of the invention is to provide a connection `between the supply tank and the crank case of the motor wherein an air pressure will be created after a predetermined quantity of lubricating oil has been lpassed through the supply pipe Iand into the crank case.
As a further object of 4the invention, the device is provided with a supplementary container having connection with an auxiliary reservoir, the latter being connected to the supplementary container by an air pipe whereby an air pressure may be created in thev reservoir when a certain quantity of lubricating oil is deposited in the supplementary4 container.
A still further obj the provision of a lubricating system which consists of comparatively Jew'lparts and is simple in construction, but durable and well adapted to withstand the rough usage to which devices of this character are ordinarily subjected.

that it is necessary to vlill the crank case Y with a surplus quantity vof lubricating oil, so that the parts to be lubricated will receive isuiiicient oil during ythe time consumed by an extended tour, and this surplus quantity is often the cause 'of fouling thel spark plugs which is likely to occur until the oil has been reduced in quantity. The automatic supply of a predetermined quanti-ty lof oifl to the crank case is, therefore very desirable and the present invention contemplates providing this automatic supply through the medium et vacuum-controlled means which will permit the supply tank to be disposed considerably above the y crank case.
As shown hy Fig. -l of the drawing, the crank case A `is disposed below the dashboard B in the usual manne-r. Arranged at a. convenient point in front ot lthe dashboard is a supply tank 1 provided with an inlet opening having a cap 2 for covering the opening and preventing the intake of air. The supply tank may have a. capacity of two or three gallons oflubricating oil and is associated with a gage 3 mounted upon the dashboard B so that the depth within the supply tank may be determined at all times.
A supply pipe 4e is in open communication with the interior of the supply tank l and has a valve 5 for opening and closing the pipe. rihe lower terminal of the supply pipe 4 is connected to and communicates with the auxiliary reservoir 6 which comprises the cylindrical container, shown in detail in Fig. 2 of the drawing; provided at its top end with a closure 7' in screwthreaded engagement with the container for providing an air-tight joint. rThe supply pipe 4f extends into the interior of the reservoir 6 for a distance equal'to about half the depth of the reservoir. Connected to the bottom-end of the'reservoir 6 is a connecting pipe which is in communication with the interior of a supplementary container 9 disy posed in approximately the same plane as the bottoni of the crank case A, as clearly le cm ank;
