Be it known that I, JorINKRAsNoDEMsKI, a citizen of Russia, residing at J oliet,in.the county of Will and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Toy Pistols, of Whiclithe following is aspecification. V j i The primary object of the invention is the provision of a pistol adapted for? shooting marbles and similar missiles shortdistances, the same being in the nature of a toyand while the force of the proj ectileis insuflicient to do any considerabledamage, the same will travel through the air a short' distanee from the operator.

A further object of the invention is to modify an ordinary form oflpist'ol for shooting marbles without the employment of an explosive, the spring hammer of the pistol being solely employed for this'purpdse.

to provide a toy having the appearance of a pistol and operable similarly to the loading and shooting of an ordinary firearm, the device, however, dispensing with the use of an explosive and capable of projecting a marble or similar missile a short distance as found desirable.

My pistol provides a casting 10 having a grip 11 angularly projecting from one end thereof andprovided with the usual spring hammer 12 and trigger 13, a rear extension 14 of the hammer being serviceable in cocking the pistol. Resilient means is also provided for norg mally maintaining the*marble22 in firing A still further object of the inventionis" means consists of a curved arm 23 pivoted upon a point 24 in a chamber 25 of an exten sion 26 provided beneath the barrel 15 and by means of which extension, the barrel is hinged to the casting. A rod 27 is pivoted to the arm 23 while a spring 28 encircles the rod 27 between the arm 23 and the adjacent lower side of the chamber 25. The arm 23 is normally held resiliently in the position illustrated in Fig. 1 permitting the marble 22 to be inserted in the open breech end of the barrel 15 for resting on the seat 19 when the barrel is closed upon the breech 17 and locked by means of the latch 18.

The marble 22 projects about one-third thereof through the seat 19 and upon pulling the trigger 13 with the hammer 12 cooked, the pad 21 strikes the marble 22 forcibly driving the marble longitudinally through the barrel 15, the resilient arm 23 offering only a slight resistance to the movement of the marble and being automatically depressed, permitting the marble to pass the same. With the employment of an ordinary hammer spring, which it is not deemed necessary to herein illustrate, the force of the hammer 12 driving the pad 21 against the marble 22 projects the marble some distance forwardly of the barrel 15, the said barrel serving to control the direction of flight of the missile.

The diameter of the bore 29 of the barrel 15 may be changed as found desirable, it

being only necessary that the arm 23 hold the marble 22 in its firing position without obstructing the passing of the marble through the barrel. The gun may be employed for shooting the marble 22 at other marbles such as positioned within a ring 31 herein ilustrated in Fig. 7 after the manner of the well known game of playingmarbles by hand. When the pistol is broken with the barrel 15 open by movement upon its pivot 16, the spring pressed arm 23 will resiliently hold the marble 22 between said arm and the upper side of the bore 29 at the breech end of the barrel so that the barrel may be closed upon the breech block- 17 to position the marble 22 in its firing position upon the seat 19. The rubber pad 21 also assists in projecting the marble 22 by reason of its resiliency, the hammer 12 being cocked in the usual manner and fired by pressing the trigger 13.

What I claim as new is 1. A toy pistol comprising 'a stock having a breech block with a perforation therethrough, a spring hammer pivoted in the stock with a firing end adapted to project through the perforation, a hinged barrel adapted for closing upon the breech block and a spring pressed arm extending within the barrel adjacent the breech block adapted for maintaining a missile seated in said perforation when the pistol is cooked.
