Description

0' B' ARNTZEN.
TICKET vCABINET. APPLICATION FILED III'AII. a 1918. 1 LSQ@ Patnted June 17, 1919.

' TICKET-CABINET.
To all 'whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, OLE B. ARNTZEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Minneapolis, in the county of Hennepin and State of Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ticket- Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.V
My inventionv relates to a ticket cabinet and has for its object to provide a cabinet having a plurality of compartments from any one of which one ticket at a time, as departly broken away. Fig. 2 is a front ele-y vation with the right hand portion broken away to show the interior construction, and having one compartment broken away, and having one compartment at the extreme right entirely removed. Fig. 3 is a cross section on line 3 3 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a View in side elevation of one of the compartments. Figs. 5, 6 and 7 are detail views showing successive steps in the operation of drawing a ticket :from a compartment.
Referring to the drawings, 10 designates the front wall of a box like receptacle mounted on a base 12 by means of the side walls 14 which have their lower ends extended to meet the base and which are secured thereto. The receptacle has a rear wall 16 to which is hinged a cover 18- which may be secured in place by a hook 20 pivoted thereto and adapted to engage a pin 22 secured to the front wall. A bottom portion 24 of the receptacle is inclined downwardly toward the front and the front edge of the portion 24 has secured to it by screws 26, or in any other suitable manner, a thin strip 28, preferably of sheet metal, provided with a plurality of spaced finger holes 30,. as best shown at the right hand portion or' Fig. 2. Midway between these holes the bottom portion 24 is provided with grooves 32 lor a purpose which will presently appear. The
Specification of Letters Patent. Patntd Jun@ 117, 19mg), Application filed March 8, 19.18. Serial No. 221,312.
main receptacle is adapted to receive a plurality of compartments 34, preferably cut from sheet metal and bent to form two Side walls and a front wall 36. The side walls at their bottoms are cut at the same inclination as the bottom portion 24 and are provided with extended portions 38 of proper length and width to fit the grooves 32 previously referred to. In placing the compartments in position the "two adjacent side walls of adjoining com-partments are fitted into a single one of the grooves 32 as will be apparent from. Figs. 1 and 2. The front walls 36 of the compartments are slightly curved outwardly at their lower ends, as indicated at 40, and their upper ends are bent rearwardly to `form short flanges at 42.
The advantages and operation of the device will now be explained. Each of the diierent compartments is intended to receive a stack or' tickets, all of the tickets in any one stack being diiier'ent from those in any other stack. rlhe kind of tickets in each stack is indicated by indicia 44 which y may be the same as, or symbolical of, inatter contained on the tickets. For instance, in Fig. 1 the tickets in one of the stacks have the designation 7l; printed thereon, while on the front wall of the cabinet, corresponding to the position of the stack, a similar designation is placed. I have shown the tickets as provided with numbers indicating diierent sizes of hats, but my invention is not limited to tickets of this character since it may clearly be used for various kinds of tickets. The indicia on the receptacle may conveniently be placed on a bead 46 on the bottom of the wall 10. In operation, a per" son desiring to remove any one of the tickets from its compartment places his finger in the proper ngenhole 30, as shown in Fig. 5. By a slight upward pressure of the finger the compartment 34 will be lifted sufficiently to release the lower ticket in that compartment from the curved end 40, as shown in Fig. G. Thereupon, by drawing the finger forwardly as shown in Fig. 7, the ticket is readily drawn out of its compartment. Vhen the cover is secured in position by the hook 20, the device may be readily transported from one place to another without liability of the tickets getting out of their Iproper compartments, no matter in what position the device may be placed. The extensions 38, on account of their itting into the grooves 32, prevent displacement of tickets at the bottom wall. The flanges 42 are used l'or engagement by the finger when it is desired to remove the compartments.
I claim:
1. A ticket cabinet comprising a main receptacle having an inclined bottom, said bottom being provided with a plurality ol. linger holes at its front and with a plurality of rearwardly extending grooves midway of said linger holes, and a plurality of bottomless compartmentsresting by gravity loosely upon said bottom and having their walls provided with extensions litting into said grooves and having a front wall which is curved outwardly at its lower end and bent rearwardly at its upper end.
2. A ticket cabinet comprising a main receptacle having a hinged cover and an inclined bottom, said bottom being provided with a plurality of linger holes at its front and with a plurality of rearwardly extending grooves midway of said linger holes, and a plurality of compartments resting by gravity upon said bottom and adapted to be lifted at their front ends by inserting al linger in said linger holes7 said compartments having their adjacent sides extending into one of said grooves.
3., A ticketvcabinet comprising a main re-` ceptacle having an inclined bottom, said bottom being provided with a plurality olf linger holes at its front, a plurality of compart ments, restingby gravity upon said bottom and adapted to be lifted at their front ends by inserting a linger .in said linger holes, and means at the bottom of said compartment for preventing displacement of the tickets from their proper compartments.
4. A ticket cabinet comprising a main receptacle having a hinged cover and an inclined bottom, said bottom being provided with a plurality of linger holes at its front, a plurality of compartments resting by gravity upon said bottom and adapted to be lifted at the front ends by inserting a linger in said linger holes, and means on the Walls oli'I said compartments for preventing displacement ojf tickets from their compartments in all positions of thecabinet when said cover is fastened in closed position.
5. A ticket cabinet comprising a receptacle having an inclined bottom, said bottom being provided with a linger hole at its front, and a member resting by gravity upon said bottom, said member having a front wall which prevents the escape of tickets and is adapted to be lifted by inserting a linger in said finger hole to release a single ticket.
In testimony whereof I hereunto allix my signature.
