Vi ith' the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangen'lent of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed; it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention as herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
The invention has been illustrated more or less diagramatically in its preferred embodiment in the drawing accompanying this application which forms a part thereof, and wherein Figure l, is a side elevation of the device. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same with the lid removed and Fig. 3 is a sectionalelevation on about line X X of Fig. 2.
Referring to the numerals of reference employed to designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, the vulcanizing chamber of my apparatus comprises concentric outer and inner shells 1 and 2 of any desired cross sectional contour, defining an intermediate chamber 3 that is filled with heat non conducting material. The bottom 4 of the chamber is securedto the outer shell 1 in the usual manner and a'transverse partition 5 is located a suitable distance above it to define an intermediate space6 that is also filled with a non conductor of heat.
A suitable steamboiler 7, having the usual fittings,-not shown, is provided, from which extends an upstanding steam pipe 8, the

Centrally located in the chamber and of the same height as the shells 1 and 2, isan upstanding tube 13; it is secured to the par tition 5 and exteriorly of its outer surface, and adjacent thereto, is a series of pipc'coils 14, similar to the coils 11. the end of the lower coil being connected through pipes 17-and 18 with return pipe 12 to the boiler. 19 represents a blow-off valve for removing any sediment that may accumulate in the coils, and 20 a closely fitting cover for the apparatus.
In operation, after a defective place in a tire or other article has been thoroughly cleaned and built up in the usual manner where necessary, and otherwise properly prepared, it is placed in the circular chamber 21, when steam is generated in the boiler 7' to a pressure of 35 to 40 lbs. per square inch. The steam passing from the boiler through pipes 8 and 15 to the coils 11 and 14 respectively, quickly generates 265 of heat within the chamber, bringing the article to the vulcanizing temperature, which is maintained until thorough vulcanization is completed. Any condensation of steam within the coils during the process of vulcanizing is returned to the boiler through pipes 1718 and 12.
Having now set forth the object and nature of my invention and a form of apparatus embodying the same, and having described the construction, function, and mode of operation thereof, what I claim as new and desire to secure byv Letters Patent, is
