stem, and a'sleeve attached to the valve stem, of a plunger slidably mounted in the sleeve, an inwardly extending stem on said plunger, said latter stem having a transverse port, and the plunger having a bore communicating therewith, a band loosely surrounding the plunger stem, a tensioning device having one of its ends secured to said valve stem and the opposite end to said band, and means on the plunger stem for expanding said tensioning device when the plunger is moved outwardly.
2. In a valve structure, a sleeve, a plunger longitudinally movable in said. sleeve, an exteriorly threaded stem integral with said plunger of less diameter than the diameter of said plunger and forming ashoulder at the meeting point between the plunger and stem, said plunger and a part of said stem having a longitudinal bore and the stem having a transverse bore therethrough communicating with the inner end of the longitudinal bore, a cup shaped packing having its horizontal portion surrounding said stem and its vertical portion resting against the inner wall of the sleeve, said transverse bore being below said packing and a nut threaded on to the stem and pressing the horizontal portion of the packing against said shoulder. 3. a packing carried by the extension adapted loosely mounted on the plunger stem to which to control communication through the valve stem, of a tensioning springhaving one of it ends attached to the valve stem, andmeans the opposite end o'ffthe tensioning spring is attached, saidplunger stem having limited movement through said means whereby the packing may be engaged with or disengaged from its seat without affecting the tension of said spring.
