siding at Oornwall-on-the-Hudson, in the county of Orange, State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Supporting Means for Hose- Olamps, of which the following is a specification. I

My invention relates to means for, supporting a hose clamp, particularly for use in connection with fire extinguishing apparatus.

In Letters Patent Number 1,219,968, is sued to me on March 20, 1917, I have illustrated and described a hose clamp with means for supporting the same on a fire ladder. The supporting means shown in said patent consists substantially of sockets which are held by the side bars of the ladder.

I have found in practice that, while this form of supportin means is satisfactory for certain purposes, it is susceptible of improvement in so far as removability of the support, and its portability is concerned.

The object of the present invention is to provide a novel form of supporting means for a hose clamp, and while the invention may be applied to any form "of hose clamp, I have shown it in connection with the special form of hose clamp disclosed by my aforesaid patent.

The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is an elevational view of a section of a fire ladder with the hose clamp and supporting means therefor in position be tween adjacent rungs;

Fig. 2 is a vertical sectional view on the line 22 of Fig. 1; and

Fig. 3 is a fragmentary perspective view of a detail.

In the drawing, the side bars of the ladder are denoted 10 and the two rungs are denoted 11 and 12.

The hose clamp, as herein illustrated,

comprises a yoke 13 having oppositely disposed latching means 1 1 to receive pins 15 projecting from the nozzle of the hose 16.

The support for the hose clamp comprises the parallel bars 17 having their upper ends formed into hooks 18 adapted to take over one of the rungs, such as that denoted 11. The lower end of each bar 17 is bifurcated to form a fork 19 designed to be passed over the adjacent rung 12.

The bars 17 are suitably held together by means of a cross brace 20 the opposite ends of which are preferably riveted at 20 to the hooked ends 18. To impart strength to the bars, and increase their rigidity, each thereof is preferably twisted adjacent its ends, as indicated at 17 The jaws which constitute the hooks 18 are orificed to receive a locking pin 21, as more clearly shown in Fig. 3. One of the jaws, preferably that which is immediately at the top of the bar 17 is provided with an orifice 22, preferably of annular form, connected with a rectangular slot 22, and the locking pin 21 is provided at an intermediate point with a lug 21 and at its end with a lever or handle 23. To look the support in position, the pin 21 is inserted intothe orifice 22 with the lug 21 in line with the slot 22, and when the lug 21 has passed the slot 22 the handle 23 may be released whereupon the pin 21 will rotate and the lug 21 will prevent the pin 21 from being pulled out.

Near the handle 23, upon the pin 21, are two collars 24 between which is a ring 25 loosely mounted and carrying a chain 26 which is attached to the bar 17.

It will be noted that the fork 19 is of considerable depth, whereby the device is useful for ladders in which the distance between the rungs varies considerably. Owing to the fact that the hooks 18 may be securely locked in position by the pin 21, there is no danger of the supporting device working loose, so long as a rung is between any portzion of the jaws or arms which constitute the fork 19.
