e'ble condensation of the metal at the sides of scores and While. the scores in the several views are shown as being formed equidistant and parallel, they may have any desired arrangement either direct or meandering; so long; as they may be crossed in the next step 01 the process.
The next step of the/process is performed. with at cutting tool illustrated at '12 in Fig, of the drawings, which tool is drawn across a scored face of the plate while in? clined laterally with respect to the face so as to form and turn up the leaves 13. In this cutting oi? the plate to form the leaves, the tool 12 is entered into the plate to considerable depth equaling the entire depths of the resultant leaves and it is found that as the tool 12 progresses across the pliue serves to rip each leaf during the formation of the 'lQHIl KlBZW to the bottom of the cut made the tool. What is claimed is:
1; The method of forming a storage bat- I tery plate which consists in cutting the plate With a resultant radiating leaf and tearing the leaf in the direction of the plate into sections.
2. The method of forming a storage battery plate which consists in cutting the. plate with a resultant radiating leaf and simultaneously tearing the leaf in the direction of the plate into sections.
3. The method of forming a storage battery plate which consists in scoring the plate and subsequently cutting the plate for a portion of its depth across the score in a manner to produce a radiating leaf and tear the latter from the bottom of the score to the base of the leaf.
In testimony whereof, we afiix our signatures in the presence of two witnesses.
