In practice,
secured to the valve on the nipple 17 and to 105 the eyes 19.
As Wiil be seen ,in Fig. 4-. the lever 6 1s placed to one side of the opening m the dome the valve 4 is 'engeged withthe seat 3 under the action of the stem 5 and 95 e through the medium the nipple 1'( closed, the? 25 ing an opening s as to be out of the Way of a Workman passing tlrrongh said opening. 7 indicates a cover forl said opening.
In the modified form of the invention, I
have shown the lower end wall of the cap 14 as formed with a depending boss 20 at the center thereof to accommodate a wrench and in this form of the invention, the opening 15. the nipple 17 and the cut oila valve lotare dispensed with, and the head ll on the lower end of the rod al() is also eliminated and the boss 16 threaded onto nthe lower endvof the rod.`
While I have herein shown and descrihed `pertain preferred forms of the invention by vvay of illustration, I Wish it to be understood that I do not limit or confine myself tothe precise details of construction herein `described and delineated, as modifica- 20 tionfand variation may be made Within the A scope of the claims` and Without departing fromthe spirit of the invention. I claim:
l. The combination With a tank car havin the bottom thereof, a valve closing,- said opening an outlet castingsecured to the bottom oi the car and arranged concentrically of the outlet opening, a valval rod connected with said valve and threaded projecting into the casting, a screw threaded head on the end of said rod, a valve on the upper end of said head and a cap having screw threaded engagement with the end of the casting and provided with a screw projection engaging with the screw threaded head to hold the valve on its seat.
2. The combination with a tank car hav- 'ing an opening in the bottom thereof, a
valve closing said opening, an outlet Casting Secured to the bottom of the car and arranged concentrically of the outlet opening, a. valve rod connected with said valve and projecting into the casting, .a` screw threaded head on the end of said rod, a valvelon the upper end of said head, a cap having screw threaded engagement with the end of the casting and an interiorly thread- .edboss in said cap ywith which the screw 'threaded head engages, said boss having a l valve seat en Yits upper end to receive the valve on the head ried by the cap and communicating with said boss. i@
