This invention consists in the construction or arrangement of the prongs and flap whereby the punching of the documents is position to retain the documents on the file.

The appliance is constructed with a frame A of wire with two prongs C and a transverse base or plate. B of sheet metal, and

The wire frame A. with its prongs and the fixed longitudinal member on which the flap D is hinged is all in one piece.

The flap D is also in one piece being made of sheet metal bent double to form a channel section with holes at formed in the lower ply into which the ends of the. prongs C project to punch or pierce the documents as the flap D is closed upon them, the upper ply of the flap resting on the ends of the prongs and forming a, stop to prevent the flap being ushed too far down.

The onto or fastening device E is preferably made of wire bent to the form shown in Figs. 1 to 3 pivoted to the end of the frame A with a transverse member 6 to enter between the plies of or over the flap D when the latter is closed upon the prongs (3. Two such catches are one need be employed.
