To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that l, J onn W. BAKER, citizen of the United States, residing at Stamford, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game Devices, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.

The invention relates to improvements in game devices.

The object of the invention is to. provide a simple and attractive spinning game device capable of a wide field of use, although particularly useful. in connection with the game disclosed in my co-pending application, Serial No. 176,090, filed June 21, 1917,

a or any other game of chance.

More specifically, the invention embodies a game device comprising a spinning part having a plurality of pointed portions hearing indicating characters against which a pair of movable distinguishable elements rest, and are shifted bythe spinning element upon the operation thereof. The movable elements are preferably differently colored, although they may be marked in any way so as to be distinguishable, and when used with a game of chance employing movable game plecesor men whlch have heretofore game surface by dice, one element when it comes to rest and engages a marked pointed end of the spinning partindicates the definite man to be moved and the other element designates the number of steps the man is to take, this of course depending upon where said last mentioned element stops after the operation of the spinner.

In the accompanying drawings I have disclosed a preferred embodiment of the invention, but it will of course be understood that the underlying principle of the invention ma be embodied in many other mechanicalforms and that many changes and alterations can be made without departing from the spirit thereof.

parting from the spirit thereof. While it has been found expedient to mountthe bowl on a base portion, this is not entirelynecessary as the bottom thereof may be formed so as to constitute a flat seating surface for the same.

Disposed within the bowl and mounted upon a standard 6 passing through the bottom of the bowl and having a pointed end seated within an aperture 7 in the base, is

While the standard 6 is shown as a means for supporting the spinner any other approved support may be employed to the end that the spinning device upon a slight movement on the part of the operator will turn very rapidly and move for a considerable period. The spinner is preferably rotated by the finger gripping portion 9 on theend of the shaft, which is grasped by the operator. Extending around the periphery of the spinner are the offset inclined lug parts 10, which lugs bear numerals and the successive lugs around the periphery of the said spinner are uniformly spaced apart a sufiicient distance to receive the movable elements when the spinner has come to rest. The, device is particularly adapted for use in connection with the game illustrated in my co-pending application, and with this in view the numerals or characters arranged on the spmnlng wheel 8 run from 1 to 6 and two sets of these characters are employed, there being twelve teeth arranged around the periphery of the part 8. While the-spinning device is very useful in connection with various games of chance where men or game pieces are moved step by step over game surfaces, it is capable of use in various other fields, and in fact its possibilities are unlimited.

In 0 crating the device the knob 9 is graspe tated, this of course revolving the elements 4L and the spinner wheel freely roand 5 and when the spinner comes to rest these elements set within the recesses formed between the teeth or offset parts arranged around the periphery of the spinner wheel 8, one element being of a particular color, and when resting against a tooth bearing a particular reference character indicates a certain thing, which depends upon the game that is being played, while the other element 5 which is distinguishable from the first mentioned element A comes to rest at a particular point, and, due to the reference character disposed upon the tooth Where this element stops, a certain move is then indicated, the device if being employed with a game of chance first designating a particular man to be moved which is done by one element preferably the element 4:, while the other element is known as the moving element and indicates the steps the designated man is to take.

Theinvention is, as above stated, capable of unlimited use in various fields, although particularly useful in connection with chance devices where dice are usually now employed. It will also be understood that the invention may be embodied in many other mechanical forms utilizing the basic principle now involved without departing from the spirit thereof.

What I claim is:

1. A game device of the character described comprising a bowl. portion, a spinning device, and distinguishable spinning elements located within the bowl and adapted to be shifted by said spinning device.

2. A game device of the character described comprising a member, a spinning device having suitable indicating characters thereon, and distinguishable elements located in said member and adapted to be shifted by the spinning device, substantially as described.

3. A device of the character described.

'comprislng. a receiving portion, a spinning element therein having a plurality of peripheral teeth, indicating characters adjacent each tooth, and distinguishable elements located within the receiving portion and adapted to be shifted by the spinning device, substantially as described.

4. A device of the character described, comprising a receiving portion, a spinning element therein having a plurality of poripheral teeth indicating characters adj acent each tooth, distinguishable elements located within the receiving portion and adapted to be shifted by the spinning device said spinning device being of disk like for-- mation, and a standard passing through the center thereof and constituting a support for the same, substantially as described.

5. A device of the character described, comprising a receiving portion, a spinning device therein having outstanding teeth separated a material distance apart, reference characters adjacent each tooth, and differently colored elements in said receiving portion adapted to be shifted by the spin ning device, said elements resting against the teeth of the spinning device.

6. A plural indicator of the character described comprising a movable element bearing designating characteristics adapted to ultimately indicate the subjects matter, and a plurality of freely movable bodies of mutually differentiating character adapted to be moved by the movement of said movable element to deflect the movable bodies relative thereto, said movable bodies being adapted to come to rest, at different places, against the movable element when the same stops its movement, substantially as set forth.
