i Be it known that I, ALFREDy L. EUsTIcE, a citizen 0f the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Fuse-Clip Attachments, of which the following is a specification.

Moreover, even under the best conditions by the present practice the contact depends on the resiliency of the metal of the clips, and no positive means are used to insure atight contact. This often results in the failure of contact between the complete contact surfaces of the terminals and the clips. i I
It has been proposed to reinforce the re-Y siliency of the members of a fuse clip by applying thereto an auxiliaryv spring clip t having liat bearing arms similar to the arms of the clip. The` panel 10 has attached thereto, by means of the screws 11, or otherwise, a plu rality of fuse clips 12 which are adapted to receive the knife-blade terminals 13 of the cartridge fuses 14. Theclips 12 are usually constructed of copper or other readily electrically-conducting material, and are provided with arms 15 which at their outer edges are bent to form the lips 16.
The arms 15 of the clips 12 are very apt to become bent or otherwise fail to rovide a satisfactory contact with the terminals 13 of the safety fuses. To provide such a satisfactory contact I use the fuse clip attachment 17, whicheonsistsof a pair of spring arms 18 havingv reduced ends proportioned for spot contact with the arms of the clip as distinguished from contact therewith through an extended area, suitably bent at their inner ends clip arms 15 just inside of the Alips 16 or elsewhere upon the sides of the clip which the bifurcation of the attachment permits.
. The arms 18 are joined at the outer end of the clip attachment, and this outer end is threaded, the threads extending for some cated in Figs. 2 and3. Each of the clip attachments 17 is provided with a wing nut 19, which is inserted over the outer end of the clip attachment and has threaded engagement therewith. When the nut 19 is in position near the outer end of the -,elip attachment, the arms 18 are separated from each other suiiciently to engage the sides of thel clearly indiby reason of their spring character so that the inner ends of these arms may readily be slipped over the lips 16 of the fuse clip 12, or the clip attachment may be placed in position by slipping it over the end of the fuse clip. The Wing nut 19 is then rotated so that the arms 18 are moved toward each other and brought into tight engagement with the arms l of the fuse clip. This serves to eEect a good contact between the arms of the fuse clip and the terminal y13 of the cartridge fuse. In order to remove the clip attachment it is only necessary to loosen the wing nut 19 and either slip the clip attachment from the fuse clip by moving it along the latter until the clip attachment becomes disengaged `from the end of the fuse clip, or by al owing the 'arms 18 to become open suiliciently so that the clip attachment may be removed directly over'the lips 16.
I have' described my fuse attachment as used in connection with fuse/clips for cartridge fuses of the knife-blade type, but it will be'understood that it could be used With equal facility in connection with clips fori ferrule type fuses. ,-I It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that many changes could be made in the detailed construction ofthe clip. attachment which I havev described Without departing from the spirit or'scope of my invention.
