A set collar 24 is adjustably mounted on the plunger rod 21, and carries the bearing members 20 aforesaid, through the medium of which the rod 21 is forced downwardly, against the tension of the spring 23, when the lever arm 15 is actuated by the cam 17 to face the bifurcated end of said lever down. A collar 25 is adjustably secured on the plunger rod 21 adjacent the lower end of the latter, and is provided with a lug 26? adapted for coiiperation with an electrically actuated latch 40 controlled by the member 26, the latter beinginthe form of a solenoid, and whose operationwill be hereinafter ex plained. A' bearing bracket 27 is attached to the face plate of the punch and has journaled therein a rock shaft 28 one end of which is in a bearing 29 in the bracket 30. An arm 31 is attached to one end of the shaft 28 and is pivotally connectedto the plunger rod 21 while the opposite end of the shaft 28 carries 'a bifurcated lever 32 which is pivotally and slidably connected to the head 33, of a bolt 34, which is threaded into the block 35. For this purpose the head 33 is provided with the vertical slot 33 as clearly seen in Figs. 2 and 3. Depending from the bolt 3 4 is a tongue or bar 36 for supportin the stem portion of-a stripper member 3 the latter having abeveled end 38,.which is adapted to be moved into and out of engagement with the notch 13,
formed in the punch stock 12, and when engaged therein, is to be positively actuated for withdrawing the punch from the work during the upward movement of the head.
The member 37 is mounted for 'endwise movement throu h its opening in the. tongue or bar 36, and a out said'member, is'a coil spring 37, see Figs, 2 and 3, which is disposed between the adjacent faces of the tongue or bar 36 and the shoulder '38 of the beveled end 38 of the stripping member.
With the parts constructed and arranged operation,'briefly stated is as follows:

Itwill be evident that the outward movement of the block 35 brings the samevout of alinement with the punch stock 12, so that the latter may move upwardly, and the stripper 38 serves as an automatic means for removingv the punch from the hole in the material, the said stripper being, automatically withdrawn from engagement with the notch 13'ofthe punch stock 12.
