The paint embodying our invention will dry very quickly on either dry or damp surfaces, and is particularly intended for use as a first coat for damp surfaces, andina-y he applied to damp plastered Walls shortly after plastering or the application of the putty coat thereto, and will quickly dry and form a hard dry surface over the plaster or putty coat and firmly adhere thereto irrespective of the condition of the plaster. This paint is also particularly adapted, for use on the hulls of boats and on other sur faces which it desired to render Waterproof or to have from.

If desired, a coloring ingredient may he added to the compound to give it the desired color.

It is to he understood that While We have particularly described the ingredients and proportions thereof embodied in a preferred. form of the invcntion,-the invention is not entitled to nun1erdeparting from the spirit of the claims.

Having thus described our invention, What we claim as new, and desireto secure by Letters Patent, is

l. A damp-proof paint, comprising White lead, lime, plaster of Paris, Chinawoodoil, varnish, turpentine and naphtha, substantially as described.

2. A damp-prooi paint, comprising White Paris, and oil ingredient, varnish and turpentine mixed together in substantially the proportions designated and thinned with naphtha.
