Be it known that I, HARRY Fonnsi' Gnrsr,
a citizen of the United States, residing at Sumter, in the county of Sumter and State of South Carolina, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Ignition Devices, of which the following is a specification, referencebeing had to the accompanying drawing.

A further object of the invention is to provide a device of the above character wherein a spring is utilized for moving the ignition points toward each other and for holding the same in contact and wherein devices are provided for increasing the tension of the spring through the movement of the rotor or armature toward releasing position.
These and other objects will in part be obvious and will in part be hereinafter more fully disclosed.

The invention consists generally of an 1gn1t1on device having a fixedeleetrode and a movable electrode carrying ignition points. 7
The movable electrode is spring pressed so as to normally hold the ignition points in contact. Current is furnished to the igni tion" pointsby a generator of the oscillating type; that 1s, wherein the rotor or armature is actuated by means of a spring or springs .through'the aid of atrip leverand a pushrod which'operates upon the trip lever to store power in the springsand releases the same so that the rotor or armature may be moved through the stored power for providmg a maximum current for ignition n proper timing with the movements or the piston in the cylinder. The movable ectrode is operated for separating theh'gni t ron. timing with the movement ofthe points in rotor or armature. The, springqpressed means for moving the ignition points in engagement is so connected or associated with the trip lever for moving the rotor or armature, that the tension of the spring isincreased as the armature is moved toward releasing position, so that the ignition points will be firmly pressed into contact at this time.
Referring more in detail to the drawings,
T have shown my invention-as embodied in an ignition device which is supported bracket structure indicated .at 1. This bracket is attached to the cylinder wall by a,
which is indicated at 2.' Mounted in the bracket is a fixedel'ectrode 3 and a movable electrode 4. A movable electrode in the cylinder carries an arm 5 which supports an ignition point 6, which is adapted to 006perate with theignition point 7 on the fixed electrode. These parts are of the usual construction and have only been shown more or less diagrammatically in the drawings. Current is supplied to the ignition points from a generator G, which is mounted on the supporting bracket 1. The generator is'provided with a rotor or armature 8, on the outer end of which is a bifurcated arm 9. Pivotally supported by the bracket 1 is atrip lever 10, which is provided with oppositely extending arms 11 and 12. A spring 13 is connected to the arm 11 at its inner end and at its outer end to a pin 14 carried by the supporting bracket 1.
