PA special object. of the invention comprehends a purse havin a drop fold or extension which gives ad ed depth to the secret compartment provided for the bank notes, thereby permitting their insertion longitudinall Olhcr objects of the invention have to do with various features of construction and arrangement of parts hereinafter set forth and defined by the a pended claims.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings in Which,-
Figure 1 is a perspective of a purse embodylng my invention showing the secret compartment o ened at the top;
Fig. 2 is a ike view showlng the compartment closed;
Fig. 3 is a transverse section taken centrally of the purse shown in Fig. 1; and
Fig. 4 is a like section of the view shown in Fi 2.
Referring more particularly to the accompanying drawings, the purse shown comrises a main com-carrying compartment 1, )oined upon each side by other compartments 2 and 3. The construction of the compartments 1 and 2 may be of any a proved form and they constitute no part o the invention. The compartment 3 is designed for a secret compartment especially suitable for accommodating bank notes, and comprises inner and outer. body sections 4 and 5, respectively. The sections are provided with a crease near their center, and the lower half is adapted to fold upwardly, the sections'bendng along -the line of the crease,
folding of the compartment, sections 4 and 5 are caused to lieclosely together, practically closing the compartment at the top. This latter feature is augmented if articles are carried in the com artments 7 and 8, which would produce a ulging, thereby forcing the section 5 against its complemental section 4 and substantially concealin the secret compartment 3 and its contents rom view.
The compartment 2 resembles the usual compartments found in this type of purses, and includes a back section 10 having an extenslon or continuation adapted to fold over and form a cover for the top of the purse and fastened to the exterior surface of section 4 of compartment 3 by means of an eyelet 11. The strap or handle 12 customarily provided with this form of purse furnishes a means for carrying the same.
While I have described my invention with reference to the specific embodiment shown, 1t is obvious that various changes may be made without departing from the spirit and scope thereof.
What is claimed is 1. A purse of the character described, comprising a main coincarrying compartment, a secret compartment secured to the side of said coin-carrying compartment, said latter 2. A purse'of the character described, comprising a main coin-carryin compartment a secret compartment secure to the side of said coin-Carr ing compartment, said latter compartment avmg a folding extension, said extension having exterior pockets formed thereon, and means for supporting said extension from the side of its compartment whereby a bulging of the side pockets will substantially conceal theopening ofthe secret compartment, the mouths of said `secret compartment and said coin-carrying compartment being substantially in the same plane to facilitate the manipulation of -the contents of said compartments.
3. A purse of the character described, com
prising a main coin-carrying com artmentl a secret compartment secured to t e side o said coin-carrying com artment, said latter compartment having a, olding extension, the length of said extension being substantially equal tothe width of said coin compartment, ving a combined depth slightly eater an the length of the bank notes, sai folding extension having exterior pockets formed thereon, and means for securing said extension to the side of the secret compartment so as to substantially conceal the opening thereof, the mouths of said compartments being substantiall in the same plane to facil- :tate the manipu ation of the contents of said compartments.
f1. .A purse of the character described, comprlslng a mam coin-carryin com artment o, secret compartment secure to t e side of said com-carrying compartment, said latter compartment having a foldin extension, the length of said extension bemg substantlally equal to `the width of said coin compartment givlng a combined depth slightly greater than the length of the bank note, said folding extension having exterior pockets formed thereon, and clasps provided for securmg said extension to the side of the secret compartmentz whereby a bulging of said side pockets will substantially conceal the opening of the secret compartment adjacent the coin-carrying compartment, the. mouths of said secret compartment and said com-carrying compartment being substantially 1n the same plane to facilitate the mampulatlon of the contents of the compartments.
