Be it known that I, GEORGE H. This invention relates to an advertising device and has for one of its objects, the provision of a device of this character, es ecially ada ted for exhibiting advertising matter an also capable of exhibiting clothing and similararticles.

Another object of this invention is to provide means for causing the advertisin matter to travel in a circular path and adapted to be alternately illuminated so as to attract attention.

Another object of this invention is to provide a rotating casing carrying the advertising matter "and having secured thereto a figure for supporting or wearing clothing and similar articles. J

A still further object of this invention is the provision of an advertising device of the above stated character, which shall be simple, durable and eflicie'nt, and which may be manufactured and sold at a comparatively low cost.

With these and other objects in view as will become more apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists of certain novel.

features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will behereinafter more fully described and claimed.

A bearing 3 is formed centrally upon the base 1 and has mounted therein a Upper and lower bearings 5 and 6 are secured to the vertical shaft 4 and have mounted thereon ball bearings 7 on which bear cones 8 secured to the ends of a cylindrical sleeve 9, which surrounds the shaft 4. The sleeve 9 has secured to its upper end, a supporting bracket 10 which is in turn secured to 'a casing 11 having an annular wall 12. The ,annu1ar wall 12 is provided with oppositely disposed elongated openings 13 over which are secured frames 14 for supporting advertising matter.

Secured to the sleeve 9 is a spur gear 15 which meshes with a worm car 16 carried by a shaft 17 that is journale 18 carried by the base 1;. The shaft 17 has secured thereto a pulley 19 which is connected to a pulley 20 of a motor 21 by a belt 22 for rotatm the casing 11.

A circular ousing 23 issecured to the top of the casing 11 for inclosing a block 24 having a cam face 25, which issecured to the top of the casing 11. A substantially U- shaped support 26 is secured to the base 1 and overlies the housing 23 as illustrated in Fig. 3. An operating rod 27 is pivoted to the Web portion of the substantially U- shaped support 26 as illustrated at 28 and adapted'to engage the cam face 25 of the b10ck24 as the same travels in the path of in a standard ing 11, and as the casing the clothing or other articles thereon from' all points,

The casing and the manner of mounting the figure are illustrated and claimed in my divisional application filed July 31st, 1917 and serially numbered 183,711.

An insulating sleeve 37 is mounted upon the sleeve 9 and held thereon by nuts 32, on which a contact ring or band 34 is mounted. A brush 35 i secured to a ring 36 mounted upon the band 34 and engages contact plates 37 mounted upon an insulating block 38 carried by the base 1. A pole 39 is carried by the insulating block 38 and has secured thereto a brush 40 which engages the ring or band 34. An electrical plug 41 has the usual conductors 42 connected thereto for furnishing it with electrical current from any well known electrical source. A conductor 43 is connected to the plug 41 and .to the'pole 39. A conductor 44 is connected to one of the contact 'lates 37 and to an electric lamp 45 mounted upon the base and located within the casing 11. Connected to the electric lamp 45 is a conductor 46 which connects w1th a conductor 48 that in turn connects with a fuse 49. A conductor 50 is connected to the fuse 49 and to a switch 51. Connected to the switch 51 is a conductor 52 which is in turn connected to the plug 41, whereby a circuit is closed to the electric lamp 45 when the switch 51 is closed and the brush 35 engages one of the contact plates 37 A conductor 53 is connected to the other contact plate 37 and is in turn connected to an electric lamp 54 located adjacent the electric lamp 45. A conductor 55 i connected to the electric lamp 54 and to the conductor 48, thus when the switch 51 is closed and the brush 35 is in contact with the last mentioned contact plate 37, the electric lamp 54 will be illuminated. A conductor 56 is connected to the plug 41 and to a switch 57. A conductor 58 is connected to the switch 57 and to a fuse 59. A conductor 60 is connected to the fuse 59 and to the motor 21. A conductor 61 is connected to the motor 21 and t the conductor 43 which is connected to the plug 41, whereby when the switch 57 is closed, an electric circuit is completed to the motor 21 causing the same to rotate the eas- 11 rotates the brush 35 alternately engages the contact plates 37 r and alternately illuminates the

45 and 54, they are illuminated so asto illuminate the advertising matter carried by the frames To prevent confusion of the drawings, the conductors have been omitted from the figures and it is thought that the construction will be understood by referring to the diagrammatical view of the wiring diagram.

A switch board 2 is secured to the base 1 for the purpose of supporting the switches 51 and 57.

From the foregoing description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, it will be noted that n advertising device has been provided whereb clothing and other articles may be readily exhibited as well as advertising matter, such as printing and the like may be exhibited and illuminated.

If desired, the housing 23, block 24, and the substantially U-shaped support 26 and the element carried thereby may be removed from the casing 11 and the figure secured in any well known manner permanently to the casing 11, whereby the figure will be turned within a circle by the casing 11, but will be minus of the upward and downward motion rendered by the operating rod 27 and the rod 29.

While l have shown and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it will be understood that minor changes in construction, combination and arrangement of parts may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:

1. An advertising device coinprisingabase, a shaft carried by said base, a sleeve rotatably mounted on the shaft, a casing car ried by the sleeve, advertising matter carried by the casing, means for rotating the sleeve,

contact bands carried by the sleeve and insulated therefrom, an insulating block secured to the casing, a ole supported by said block, means for supp ying electrical current to said pole, a brush carried by said pole and engaging the bands, contact plates carried by the block, electric lamps'located within the casing and electrically connected to the contact plates, and a brush carried by the bands and adapted to engage the contact plates to alternately illuminate the electric lamps upon rotation of the asing.
