' Be itknownthat 1, EDGAR E; cvlc n a citizen of the United States, and. res'identof @maha,'in the county of Douglas and State.
of -Nebraska, have'in'vent'ed a certain new and useful Slide-PocketFilm Case, of which thefollowing isa specification. 1 My invention relates toslidepockets' for film cases holding 'a slide. p Q
Theobject of my invention is to provide With these and "other'objects in view my invention consists in the constructiom'arrangement and combination of thevarious parts of the. device, whereby the objects contemplated are attained, as hereinafter more fully set forth, pointed out in my claim, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:
V Figurel showsa perspective view'of aslide tlon.
picket film case embodying my inven- Fig. shows a plan view of the blank from which the slide pocket is made.
Fig. 3 shows a vertical, sectional 'viewj through the wall of the film case andv slide pocket.
It is well known that moving picture films V fastened to the film are shipped in cases such, for instance, as .that shown in the accompanying drawings, and comprising a box or receptacle indicated by the reference character 10.
The ordinary film case has a hinged cover 11' provided with a peripheral flange 12 designed to extend downwardly over'and overlap the upper edge of the film case proper.
It is the custom in the film exchange busi--v ness for agencies or film distributers to send. to the theater owner or operator, a few days before any certain film is to be exhibited, a slide which is of suitable transparent material, advertising feature films which are to be later exhibited by thetheatermanagfl. 7
These slides are packed invari0usways and are sent by'mail or express and are very V frequently brokenorlost.
It has, therefore, been my purpose to provide in connection with the film case, such as that herein shown, a'slide pocket which can bemade mounted on a part of. the film case for holding the slide.
Where a film is shipped on one day there can be sent with it the slide advertising another film to be shipped and use a few days later.

able material, and may be maue; rrb a The blank 13 stirs outerend a slot 14 to'permitaccess-to the thumb or finger, and
at its lower end anextension 15, which is of less length from sidet width (3f the'blal ik. l

tally to position for forming a bottom to I the box. i i
The pocket formed from the blankis laced On'the inside of the film case 10 with V the strip 16 against one end of said film case, I
and with the strip 20 against one side of the film case. The strips 16 and 20 are securely rivets 22. Y
Theupper edge of the Pocket is arranged substantially flushwith the upper edge of i the film case, and thev upper edge of said film ca se-may,-if desired, be provided with a notch 23, which registers with the notch 14.
It willthus be seen that the wall of the film case 10, and theipa'rtsof the formed up-pocket, as abovedescribed cotiperates and forms a compartment or receptacle of proper size to hold a. slide.
- The flange .12 of the cover of the film case. 1
.fits down over the edge of the case when, the
. cover is closed covering the top of the film pocket and thenotch 23 where the; latter is I used. 7
The extension 15, as. shown in Fig. 2,
forms the bottom of the pocket.
A device of this kind has a large number of advantages over the means now in use for. handling. the slides. Among others the slide pocket affords a safe shipping means for the.
slide, which prevents the destruction and".
loss. thereof during shipment. I
Insomuch as the distributer is sending frequent shipments to the exhibitor, the slides 85 casewalls bymeans of 'alents which may be reasonably included v, downwardl can be shipped With the'iilms; so thatthe distributer is saved the express expense now necessary Where the slides. are separately shipped.
Furthermore the distributer is saved-the expense of using destructive Wooden boXe orthei like forjpackingthe slides- Changes may be madeinvtheconstruction and arrangement of the parts of my improved device Without departing from the essential features andpurpcses there f; and
