Be it known that I, ALFRED W. NEW- COMBE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Revere, county of Suffolk, Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Game Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to game apparatus, and has for its object to provide a simple, inexpensive and entertaining game, and game apparatus which while involvingsome little skill and dexterity to play well 1s yet sufficiently easy to play as to constltute an attractive and interesting form of amusement especially for children.

This object is secured in the game of the present invention, the nature and manner of playing of which, together with a form of game apparatus which has been found satisfactory in use and well adapted to the requirements of manufacture, is described in the annexed specification, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, and particularly defined in the appended claims. Throughout the specification and drawings like reference characters are correspondingly employed, and in the drawings:

Figure 1 is an elevation of game apparatus in accordance with my invention.

Fig. 2 is a perspective view thereof and illustrating the manner of playing, and

Figs. 3 and 4 are detail views of parts of the supporting standard.

My game, broadly, involves the bouncing of a resilient ball 1 of suitable size through a slightly larger opening in a target 2 which may be a ring or other suitably shaped member, conveniently supported at any appropriate distance from the ground, as by a supporting standard. For convenience of packing and shipment, the standard may be sectional, and as here shown consists of a plurality of rods 3, a supporting base 4:, and the proper number of couplings 5. The rods 3 may be solid or tubular, as desired, and the base 4 may be in the form of a pair of crossed members suitably dove the ring 2 to be varied, both as to distance 7 from the ground and as to angularity with relation to the players.

The object of the game is to bounce the ball 1 through the ring 2, the player or players standing at any arbitrarily fixed gisltiance from the ring before delivering the Various modification in the form and construction of my device may obviously be resorted to if within the limits of the appended claims.

What I therefore claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:

1. Game apparatus comprising a resilient ball, a ring through which the ball is adapted to be projected, and a support for said ring adapted to position the ring an appropriate distance from the ground and at variable angles with relation to the vertical.

2. Game apparatus, comprising a resilient ball, a target in the form of a ring having an opening therethrough of greater diameter than that of the ball and through which the ball is adapted to be bounced, and a sectional support for the target adapted to position the target at an appropriate distance from the ground and at variable angles with relation to the vertical.

3. Game apparatus, comprising a resilient ball, a ring through which the ball is adapt-- ed to be bounced, and a sectional standard to supportthe ring at variable distances from the ground and at variable angles with respect to the vertical and consisting of a base, a plurality of superposed rods and coupling members for detachably uniting said rods.
