Specification describing a new and Improved Stand for Testing Rifles, invented by JULIUS LEHNERT, of Louisville, in the countyof Jefferson and State of Kentucky.
- Figures 1 and 2 are side elevations of the improved stand, showing the leaf horizontal and vertical, respectively. Fig. 3 is avertical section of the'sameon the line 0 c, Fig. 1.'- ,Similar letters, of reference indicate correspending-parts. v V v The objectof this invention -is .to provide convenient and reliable means for holding firearms, such as rifles,-.pistols, &c., to be loaded and fired without danger of displacement, in order to ascertain the accuracy ofthe' bore and adjust the sights. The invention consists v latter are two jaws, b and (1, one of which, I), I
is adjustable toward the other by means of a screw, 0. The other jaw, d, may also be movable or stationary, as may appear most con venient. The rifle G, tobe tested, is clamped between the jaws b d, in the manner indicated in the drawing, and thus secured to the leaf B. It can be conveniently loaded in'theposition of Fig. 2, and fired as often as nccessary in the position of Fig.1, and will, aslon g as the table is not shifted, remain in the position for firing, thus giving good opportunity for accurate tests. The leaf is locked in the horizontal position by pins or. catches f, a-pplied to or through its front part.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Paten'rrv j .The stand A, provided with the hinged top 13 and clamping-jaws or vise,-for holding and tcstin g fire-arms, as specified. u
