patenten nee.. ii, ier".
i application mea'aprii is, i917. seriaino. 163,105.
To alt whom t may concern:
Be' it known that Monizrs Fi-rinrr, a subject oi' the Emperor of Austria, and a New York, borough ot liianhattan7 in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and lmprovcd Blf)oiiieikii't, of which the iollowing is a itull, clear7 and exact description.
'l` his invention relates and particularly to a childs garment and has for an object the provision of an iur proved construction whereby the garment may be arranged for use as a skirt or arranged itor use as bloomers.
Another object in view is to provide a combined skirt and bloomer garment so that the same fastening means inay be used for holding the garment 1n proper position a skirt or in proper position as a bloomer.
still further object of the invention is to provide a skirt which is Jformed with means for dividing the skirt into sections, and the provision of means for puclrering each section or leg to produce abloomer eiect.
ln the accompanying drawing Figure l is a perspective view o a embodying the invention.
Fig. 2 is a perspective view of the skirt shown in Fig. l arranged on a figure.
Fig. 3 is a :ieispective view of a garment shown on a hgure and arranged as a. pair of trousers.
Fig. i is a view similar to Fig. 3 but showing the lower end of the legs puckered or converted into a bloomer structure.
Fig. 5 is a perspective view or the garment sliownwin Fig. 3 looking at the same from the bottom.
Fig. 6 is an enlarged detail fragmentary sectional view through Fig. 2 on line (i4-6.
Referring to the accompanying drawing by numerals, l indicates the skirt as an entirety, the saine .being provided, if desired, with a waist band 2 and with plaits 3 and 4': at the rear. Also, plaits 5 and 6 are provided at the front, said plaits being preferably of the variety known as boX- plaits so as to provide a fullness which will hide the buttons and other` connecting means when the device is in use as a skirt and Which will no'J produce a load appearing structure when the device is used as bloomers.
The skirt l is provided with an opening 7 at the iront and an ope-ning 8 at the hack7 skirt to wearing apparel fitting said openings extending for any desired distance, preferably slightly less than half the length of the skirt. By reason of these two openings sections or legs 9 and l0 will Ice formed which, when arranged as shown in Fig. e, will produce a bloomer eilect and when connected as shown in Fig. l will pijoduce a. skirt. At the point of connection at both the front and rear there is provided a strip lliormed with a number of buttonL holes 1Q- tor receiving the respective buttons i3 secured to the strip le. `The strip l1 is connected to the leg section 9 while strip lll is connected to the section l0, as shown more particularly in Fig. 6.
lt will be observed that the buttonhole strip 1l is completely out of sight and the strip la is almost completely hidden, though the same overlaps section l1. This construction is necessary not only in connecting the skrt together as shown in Fig. il but when connecting the same as shown in Figs. 3, 4 and 5, in which instance the strip lli of leg l() would be connected to the strip 11 of the saine leg and thereby produce a round leg structure as shown in Fig. 5. The strip 14 of the leg section 9 will also be connected to the strip l1 of the same leg section. Butm tons and buttonholes have been provided as shown in the drawing, but it will .be evident that hooks and eyes or other ,connecting means may be used without departing from the spirit of 'the invention.
in order to pucker the legs and to 'produce a proper bloomer effect, draw strings 'l5 and 16 are provided. draw string 15 being connected at 17 and 18 to section 9 while draw string 16 is connected at 19 and 2O to section l0, said draw strings in the usual hem 2l provided in the skirt. Upon drawing the center or the exposed part of the draw strings 15 and 16 the sections 9 and 10 will be puckered at the lower end and said pucker may be maintained by 'forming a knot in each of the draw strings and adjusting the parts as shown in Fig. 4;. By unbuttoning the parts from the position shown in Fig. l and again buttoning them as shown in Fig. l the arment will be changed back into a s irt formation as shown in Fig. 1. A minimum number of fastening means have been provided for holding the parts of the skirtto gether when arranged as a skirt and' the saine ifastenin g means when holding the lower ends of the www@ parts together when the garment is arranged as bloomers.
What claim is:
