IMPROVEMENT IN MILK-COOLERS Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 124,870, dated March 19, 1872.
Specification describing an Improved Milk- Oooler, invented by ()WEL H. WILLARD, of Randolph, Cattaraugus county, New York.
This invention relates to that class of coolers in which several small pans, which hold milk, are inclosed, all on the same level, in one large pan, and there are spaces for water between the sides, ends, and bottoms of the smaller pans, and the corresponding portions of the large pan or of the partitions by which the large pan is divided into compartments, one for each small pan. The invention consists in such a pan thus divided into compartments, in combination with a cup attached to the tops of the partitions at the middle of the pan, and
provided with tubes leading one into each compartment, all as hereinafter described.
Figure l is a top view with the milk-pans removed. Fig. 2 is a transverse vertical section in line a: w, and Fig. 3 is a detached View of the spile.
A is the large inclosing or water-pan; a, the partitionswhich divide the water-pan into compartments and 0t, themilk-pans, placed one in each compartment, said milk-pans being entirely free to be taken out of or put into the water-pan at pleasure. B is the cup aforesaid,
the same being fastened to the tops of the par titions a, at their point of intersection, and bein g furnished with tubes 12 passing through its bottom, one to each compartment of the waterpan. By means of the cup B and tubes 1) the compartment'can all be filled at once, or either can be filled by itself; in brief, as many compartments can be filled together as contain milk-pans, and if any compartment holds no milk-pan the filling of that one can be avoided by simply plugging the tube b which leads to it. The compartments have the usual ventholes 6 and discharge-orifices d and the milkpans have discharge-orifices 0.
I claim as my invention The pan A, having partitions a, and combined with a cup, B, having tubes 1) leading one to each compartment of the pan A, all as specified.
