Coacting with the opposite marginal'pon tion of the rim or felly 11 is the removable annular flange 16 which has its inner marginal portion also disposed in a direction toward the disk 1, as indicated at 17, and adapted for contact therewith, the contact ing portion of the removable flange 16 also having a gasket-18.
Disposed through the flanges 12 and 16 and through the annular members 8 at points intermediatethe blocks 1 are the bolts 19 which serve as a means to maintain'the removableflange 16 in applied position and also afford a support for the annular mem bers 8. The annular members 8 are capable of movement longitudinally of the bolts 19 but in order to constantly urge the members 8 toward the blocks at, I employ the springs 20 arranged for contact with the-outer faces of the members 8 at points in transverse alinement with the blocks 4.
As is particularly illustrated in Fig. 2, each of the springs 20 has an intermediate bowed portion outwardly directed and which contacts with the inner face of the adjacent flange 12 or 16. The inner end of each of the springs has disposed therethrough a headed member or bolt 21 capable of longitudinal adjustment through either the flange 12 or 16, whereby it will at once be selfevident that the pressure exerted by the spring upon an annular member 8 may be readily and conveniently regulated in ac cordance with the necessities of practice.
It is thought to be self-evident that during the travel of the wheel the vibration imposed upon the rim or felly 11 will result in aemovement of the annularmembers 8 independently of the blocks 4 but the shock or'jars incident to said vibration will be substantially, entirely absorbed by the springs 20 on account of the lateral movement of the members 8 upon the bolts 19.
To prevent any excessive relative movement between the blocks 4i and the annular members siwhich would result in the displacement of the spherical bodies 10, I find it of advantage to interpose between the flanges 12 and 16 at points intermediate the extensions 2, the blocks 22 which blocks are positioned in close proximity to the inner ends of the extensions 2 but spaced sufficiently therefrom as to permit the requisite relative movement between the blocks 4 and the annular members 8.
As herein embodied, the blocks 22 are held in applied position throughthe medium of the bolts 23 extending axially of the blocks 22 and through the flanges 12 and '16. '1
also find in practice that the bolts 23 serve to maintain the inner marginal portions of the flanges 12 and '16 in requisite contact with theppposed faces of the disk 1.
l Vhile not essential, 1 have also found it of manifest advantage to surround the bolts 19 intermediate the flanges 12 and 16 with the spacing sleeves 2 1.
Mounted upon the rim or felly 11 is the tire T of any ordinary or preferred type and, as herein embodied, said tire T is held upon said rim or felly 11 through themedium of the clencher 'iflanges 25 suitably anchored to the outer faces of the flanges 12 and 16. As herein disclosed, the flanges 25 are held to the flanges'12 and 16 through the medium of the bolts 19hereinbefore re- I ferred to.
7 It is also to be understood that the outer end portions of the springs 20, while contacting with the members 8, are not secured or affixed to said members.
From the foregoing description, 'it is thought to be obvious that a wheel constructed in accordance with my" invention is of an extremely simple and comparatively inexpensive nature and is particularly well adapted for use by reason ofthe convenience and facility with which it maybe assembled, and it will also be obvious that my invention is susceptible of some change and modification without material departure from the principles and spirit thereof and for this reason I do not wish to be understood as limiting myself to the precise arrangement and formation of the several parts herein shown in carrying out my invention in claimed.

A resilient wheel comprising a central portion provided in its margin with cir-' cumferentially spaced recesses in its opposite faces, annular members arranged at opposite sides of the central portion and provided with recesses adapted to register with the recesses of said central portion, members seated within said registering recesses adapted for rolling contact with the walls practice, except as hereinafter wardly directed and in contact with the in-' ner face of the adjacent flange, one end portion of the spring being in contact with the outer face of the annular membenand means engageablewith the opposite end of i the spring member for securing the same loosely disposed through the annular members, co-acting means carried by the flanges and central portlon for hmltmg the circumferential movement of the central portlon relative to the annular members, fiat spring members interposed between the annular 20 members and the flanges for constantly urging the annular members toward the central portion of the wheel, each of said flat spring members having an intermediate bowed portion outwardly directed and in contact with 25 the inner face of the adjacent flange, one end. portion of the sprmg being in contact w1th the outer face of the annular member, and means engageable with the opposite end of the spring member for securing the same to the so flange, said last named means serving to regulate the tension of the spring member.
