Description
J. LIPS.
GEARING.
APPLICATION FILED NOV. 28, 1916.
Patented Oct. 2, 1917.
[:2 vez: for:
JACOB LIPS, or lvrnnnn-unnonr, SWITZERLAND,
GEABING.
To all'whom it may concern Be it known that I, J ACOB Lrrs, manufacturer, a citizen of the Swiss Confederation, residing at Nieder-Urdorf, Canton Zurich, Switzerland, have inventednew and useful Improvements in Gearing, of which the following is a specification.
The object of the invention is to provide an improved mixing and kneading machine, principally intended for mixing flour and water and kneading the dough.
According to the invention two kneading U implements, rotatablymounted on crank pins in a manner which is not in itself novel,
are provided with arms, and these arms,
placed crosswise, are connected by links to a fixed stud, by which part of the stress due to the kneading operation is borne.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings showing one form of con- I struction,
Figure 1 being'a vertical section, Fig. 2 a front View, and Fig. '3 a horizontal section on the line A-B of Fig. 1, p
Figs. 4 and 5 are detail views of the machine. 1
In the drawings 1 designates the frame, in which are mounted two parallel, horizontal shafts 2 and 3, each carrying a gear wheel 4. The wheels 4 are meshed with each other, and one of them is driven by a gear wheel 5. Each wheel 4 has a crank pin 6, upon which is rotatably mounted a sleeve 7 of a kneading 1 head, having an arm. 8. The arms '8 cross each other and are both connected by links 9 to a stud 10 fixed to a part 11 of the frame. Each kneader also has a lmeading arm 12 fitting into a groove in the kneader I head and having a kind of hook 13 at the top, engaging over the partj1-5 of the head.
A pin 14 passes through the head and the arm 12, and is made fast by means of a catch 15 Axial movement ofthe 'kneaderon the crank pin 7 is prevented by a nut and washer Specification of Letters Patent. 1 Application filed November 28, 1916. s rial No. 133,889.
16. The pan 18 is mounted by means of a I pivot 17 on a carriage 19 having a table 20,- on which are two studs 21. Upon the frame 1 there'are two pivots 22 for eccentric abut- Inents 23 having handles24. These abutments lie in the path of the studs 21 when the carriage withthe bowl is moved to and from the machine, and they are so placed in relation tothe studs that they can only be rotated into position to retain the carriage when the bowl is'in the" proper position 'in relation to the kneaders.
tated by, means of'bevel gear. Whenthe wheels 4 are driven the kneaders rotate with the crank pins 6, and the stress 0 1 due to the work is in part borne by the stud 10. When'the stress is greatest the parts are positioned most favorably to bear it,'so that a strong machine can be constructed of. comparatively light design.
Having now particularly described and ascertained'the nature of my said invention, and in what manner the 'same is to be performed, Ideclare that what I claim is In combination, a frame, a; pair of parallel 7 shafts mounted in the frame, a gear wheel mounted on each shaft, said gears being in meshing relation, a crank pin extending from each gear wheel, a shaft disposed above and in a central plane between the parallel 7 1 shafts, arms pivoted on the crank pins and extended upwardly and across each other, a link pivotally, connected tothe upper; end of each arm, said links being pivotally support- 7 ed upon the centrally disposed shaft above 3 the gear'wheels, means for rotatingone of .the gear wheels, and rods mounted on the crank pins and actuated thereby. 1
In testimony whereof I aifix my signature in presence of two witnesses.

V CARL Gunman.
