IMPROVEMENT IN RULlNG-PENS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 123,827, dated February 20, 1872.
Specification describing certain Improve' ments in Ruling-Pens, invented by ELLIOT 1N- GRAM, of Springfield, in the county of Hampden and State of Massachusetts.

With the ordinary pens the ink is liable to run back along the shank B to the clamps, and along the clamps to the next pen, so that the diii'erent colored inks become mixed. Toguard against this, I attach a guard or shield, O, to the shank B oi the pens A, so as to prevent the possibility of the different-colored inks becoming intermingled or mixed. The guard or shield 0 projects upward and rearward, as shown in Fig. 1, so as not to interfere with-properly securing and operating the pens.
