The present embodiment of the invention comprises a substantially rectangular casing.
1, having an opening 2 in one of its side walls, and the opening is normally closed by a sheet 3 of glass or the like, the said sheet extending at one end through a slot 4, in the end of the casing to permit the sheet to be withdrawn or replaced. v
A support consisting of horizontal portions 6, and a vertical portion 5 is arranged in the casing, the said support extendmg from one end to the other and from the rear wall to near the front wall, and the vertical portion 5 is spaced apart from the front wall. This'support if desired, may be a vertical partition extending longitudinally of the box and it is asupport for lights, to be later described.
A tubular extension 10 extends from the rear of the casing, and from the center, and l the outer end of this extension is normally closed by a door 11, which is hinged to the extension-at 12, and is provided withxspring latch mechanism 13, for holding the door closed. 'A switch plate 14 is arranged. on the tubular extension, and this plate has four push buttons 15, which are connected to the respective l 1ghts in a manner to be presently descrlbed. Thepush buttons 15 are connected to the lights, and to one or more dry cells indicated at 16, which are arranged in the tubular extension.
. The arrangement of the circuits is shown in Fig; 3, wherein thebattery 16 has lead wires 17 and 18, connected with the respective terminals of the battery. The lights 8 are arranged parallel between these lead wires, each light being interposed in the length of a lead wire 19, in which the push button 15 pertaining thereto is also interposed.
It w1ll be evident that when any push button 1s depremed, the light pertaining thereto W111 be connected tothe battery to ignite the same and that partition in which the par- ,ticular light is placed will be illuminated to show the number in front of the light.
Whlle but four lights and four numbers are shown, it will be evident that any desired number might be used. The usher grasps the annunciator by the tubular extension 10, this extension forming a convenient handle for the purpose.
I claim 1. A hand annunciator, comprising a casmg havmg one side open and having a sheet of transparent material covering the said open side, said casing having a support in rear of the sheet and a series of transverse partitions between the support and the sheet and separating the easing into compartments, an electric light in each compartment, the sheet having numerals at the compartments, a tubular extension at the rear of the casing and communicating therewith, a swltch plate provided with a push button for each lamp on the extension, a cover closmg the outer end of the extension, said extension being adapted to contain a battery, and said battery being connected to the push buttons and to the lamps.
2. A hand annunciator, comprising a casing having one side open and having a sheet of transparent material covering the said no open .side, said casing having a support in the casing and adapted to contain a battery, rear of the sheet and a series of transverse and a switch plate on the handle and conpartitions between the support and the sheet nected with the battery and the lamps. and separating the casing into compart- GEORGE ALT.
