Be it known that I, NEiLs B. ANDERSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pocatello, in the county of Bannock and State of Idaho, have invented new and useful Improvements in Ticket and Coin Holders, of which the following is a speciiication.

This invention relates to ticket and coin holders and it consists in the novel features hereinafter described and claimed.

An object of the invention is to provide a combination article of the character indicated to be applied to the side of a hand bag or a satchel and to be used for retaining coin and car tickets in a manner whereby the said coin and tickets are readily accessible when it is desired to use thel same.

The parts of the holder are so arranged as to efliciently and securely retain the coin and tickets and the tickets are so held that they may be withdrawn singly from the device.

The combined ticket and coin holder comprises a metallic plate 1 adapted to be secured to the side of a Satchel or bag by means of rivets 2 which are passed through the said plate and the side of the bag or satchel in a usual manner. The platel 1 is provided at its intermediate portion with an opening 3 and the material which is removed from the said opening at the time that it is formed is bent in the shape of a tongue 4L which is disposed at one side of the said plate. The plate 1 is provided at its lower edge with recesses 5 and spring strips 6 are secured to the back of the plate and have free end portions which enter the recesses 5. Bearings 7 are secured to the face of the plate 1 in the vicinity of the opposite edges' thereof and beyond the outer edges of the recesses 5.

A shaft 8 is journaled in two of the bearings 7 and the intermediate portion of the said shaft 8 engages two of the strips 6 whereby the said shaft is frictionally held against turning movement. Coin pockets 9 are attached to the shaft 8 and the said pockets are provided at their edges with inwardly disposed flanges 10 and at their lower ends with an upwardly disposed flange 11. The said pockets 9 are adapted to receiv@ and retain coin there being spring members 12 mounted at the upper portions of the pockets and adapted to retain the coin in the same. A shaft 13 is journaled in two of the bearings 7 and a closure plate 14 is mounted upon the shaft 13. The said plate 111 is provided at its lower edge with lugs 15 which engage the other spring strips 6 whereby the said plate 14 is normally held in a closed position. The plate 111 normally lies over the pockets 9 and incloses the same. When it is desired to gain access to the pockets the closure plate 14 is swung in an outward direction and one or more coin may be withdrawn from the pockets 9 by depressing the spring members 12 out of the paths of movement of the said coin.

A ticket pocket 16 is adapted to he used in conjunction with the plate 1 and the said pocket 16 is formed from a single piece of sheet metal. The pocket 16 is adapted to lie in the opening 3 in the plate 1 with its lower end resting upon the tongue f1 in a manner as shown in Fig. t of the drawing. The pocket 16 is provided at its sides with ianges 17 which lie against the outer sur face of the plate `1 in the vicinity of the edges of the opening 8. The upper portion of the back wall of the pocket 16 is inclined forwardly or outwardly as at 18 whereby the tickets which are held in the pockets are forced toward the forward portion of the same as the tickets are moved in an upward direction in the pocket.

When it is desired to place the ticket in the pocket 16 the closure plate 14 is swung in an outward direction with relation to the plate 1 and then the pocket 16 is removed from the opening 3 in the plate 1. The tickets indicated at 19 are placed in the pocket 16 and the said pocket is slipped back through the opening 3 in the plate 1 and the lower edge of the pocket 16 is permitted to rest upon the tongue 4: and the anges 17 bear against the outer surface of the plate l as hereinfore described. l/Vhen it is desired to remove the tickets from the pocket the thumb or inger is passed through the opening 3 in the plate l whereby the nearest ticket is engaged and forced in an upward direction along the inclined portion 18 of the back wall of the pocket 16. Thus the said ticket is directed through the outer upper portion of the pocket and as soon as the end of the ticket projects above the upper edge of the plate 1 it may be grasped between the thumb and finger and removed from the pocket and from the holder.

From the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawing it will be seen that a combined ticket and coin holder of simple and durable structure is provided and that the same may be conveniently used for retaining coin or tickets and that the said coin or tickets may be readily removed from the same when desired.

Having described the invention what is claimed is 1. A holder comprising a plate having an opening with a tongue provided at the end of the opening, a pocket adapted to enter the opening and rest upon the tongue, said pocket having flanges adapted to bear against the surface of the plate and adapted Ito retain tickets in the pocket, the upper portion of the back wall of the pocket being upwardly and forwardly inclined.

A holder comprising a plate having an opening with a tongue located at the end of the opening7 a pocket adapted to enter the opening and rest upon the tongue, said with an opening and having a tongue lo? cated at the end of the opening, a pocket de tachably mounted in the opening and resting upon the tongue and having flanges adapted to bear against the surface of the plate and a spring pressed closure plate pi"- otally mounted upon the firstv mentioned plate and adapted to close over said pocket.

4. A holder comprising a plate having an opening and provided with a tongue located at the end of the opening, a pocketdetachably mounted in the opening, spring pressed coin holders pivotally mounted upon the plate and a spring pressed Vclosure pivotally mounted upon the plate and adapted to close over the said pocket and the coin holders.
