Speecation forming part of Letters Patent No. 122,517, dated January 9, 1872.
SPECIFICATION. I, JARVIS B. EDSON, of the city of Brooklyn,
in the county of Kings and State of New York,
have invented a Locked Plug-Cock Connection, the object of which is to provide for connecting meters, gauges, registers, or other instruments of similar character with the tanks, reservoirs, boilers, or other source .of supply of any iiuid or liquid to bemweighed, measured, or registered, in such a manner as to prevent the Communication between them being interrupted without access to the inside of such in strument, and at the same time to afford means to relieve such instrument from pressure without uncoupling.
Construction cmd Operation.
I construct a plug-cock, A, in the usual manner, either with or without the outlet Gr, in one side oi' the same, and connect one end of the same by a union and ground joint, or with D of the meter or other instrument while said case is open, in such manner that, when said case is locked, the handle C cannot be withdrawn. When the handle C is made loose in said plug B, as shown in the drawing, I prevent the saine from being Withdrawn from said case D by means of slide E or other simple device, which must be inserted, as shown at F, before locking the instrument.

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The combination of plug-cock connection A and the meter D, when one end of the handle C of said plug-cock A passes into the case I), substantially as described, whereby communication through plug B cannot be interrupted without access to the inside of the instrument, and whereby such instrument may be relieved from pressure Without uncouplin g.
I desire Letters Patent for above invention to be antedated and to bear date the 8th day of July, A. l). 1871.
