lIMPROVEMENT IN BEDSTAEAD FASTENINGS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 122,457, dated January 2, 1872.
Specification describing certain Improvements in Bedstead Fastenings, invented by HERMAN Gnoss, of Hoboken, in the county oi Hudson and State of New Jersey.
This invention relates to that class of devices employed for connecting the sides to the ends ot' a bedstead, known as bedstead fastenings. y v
The object ot' my invention is to enable a person to firmly and securely unite the sides and ends ot' a bedstead in a short space of time by means ot' a simple, convenient, and inexpensive device, as represented in the accompanying drawing, ot' which- Figure l represents my invention as applied to the side and end ot'v a bedstead5'Fig. 2, a sectional view of same; and Figs. 3, 4, and 5, views of thesocket which retains the winged bolt.
The nature of my invention consists of a win-ged bolt. A, and an appropriate nut or socket, B. The socket B, being provided with a screw, O, on its periphery, and having cams, D D, on its inner end, has also a passage, E, in its center for the winged bolt. This socket is screwed into the end piece F ofthe bedstead. The bolt A has ahead, H, and shoulder, I, and also wings, K K, on its inner end. This bolt passes through the side piece L of the bedstead 'until estopped by its shoulder I, while the winged end passes through and inside of the socket B the wings K K bearing against the cams D D of the socket B. Now, by placing a tool or a piece of stron g wire in the head H of the bolt, and giving it a quarter turn, the shoulder I of the bolt will bear against the side piece L, and the wings K K against the cams ,D D on the socket B in theV end piece F of the bedstead, connecting and bracing both pieces F and L firmly together, and by a' reverse movement ot the bolt the bolt can be drawn from the socket and the bedstead pieces 'WiL BARKER.
