To all whom t may concern.'
Be it known that we, Winnaar Kantons and Nimmv Mori, citizens of the United States, residing at 'Elmhurst and Moscow, respectively, in the county of Lackawanna and State. of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Automatic Dampers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to ther accompanying drawings.
Our invention relates to improvements in automatic dampersl for heating apparatus.
The objects of the invention are to provide automatic time release means for regir lating the draft vinduced through the fire door of a stove or furnace; to provide' means for effecting a. regulation oit' the draft door and flue damper; and to provide means' for rendering the last mentioned means inoper ative, and for restoring the same to normal working condition at a predetermined' time.
To the accomplishment of jects, and others( subordinate thereto, the preferred embodiment of our invention resides in that construction and arrangement shown in the accompanying drawings, hereinai'ter described, and embraced Within the scope of the appended claims.

Broadly, our invention consists of a clock having the usual alarm wind, in combination with a shaft carrying a pair of projections, and an armadapted for engagement with the alarm wind. Operating in conjunction with the projection 10 is the curved loop-like terminal 2O of a link 2l, the opposite terminal 22 thereof being connected to a coil spring 23 supported with relation to the vertical rod 24 by the adjustable clamp 25. An eye QG is formed at the upper proximal end o? the link 2l fertile reception of a depending hook 26', corresponding to the oppositely which' directly engages 'the projection ll. These hooks 26 and i' are carried by the flexible connections er cables 28 and 29 respectively, trained over pairs of suitable pulleys 30 and Si. The other end ot' the cable 28 passes over another puh ley 32, and is fastened to the i'ii'e door 33 of the furnace'B/t, while the companion end of the cable 29 is connected to the rear termina] of the lever 35 of the thermostat 36, the forward terminal having a chain coniin4 vnection 37 with the draft door 38 mounted on the lower ash pit door 39. A short chain 40 serves to connect the flue damper 41 to the 'rear terminal of the 'lever 35.
Under normal conditions and before retiring for the night,'the ire door or the furnace is slightly opened v(see Fig. 2). The clock alarm is then set in accordance with the time in the morning it is desired to 'have a hot lire, andthe slide 17 seated upon the marginal edge of the alarm Wind 8, with hook 26 engaging the eye'26 and the loop 20` coupled with the projection 10. The several parts remain in this'position untll 'the alarm is sounded, when the retrograde movementl of the alarm wind 8 will cause the same to ride from beneath the slide 17 and permit the spring 23 to exert its contractlle force and close the door 33 of the furnace.
When employing our invention in the.
manner just described, the thermostatic regulator-is free to operate the lower draft door 38 and the flue damper 41. However, on windy nights or whenever other conditions are conducive to an abnormal draft, it is desirable to check the fire by closing the lower draft door and flue damper, and temporarily suspending the operationof the regulator. This may be accomplished by connecting the hook 27 with the projection 11 at the same time the connection is made with the other combination of combustioncontrolling devices, .the various parts occupying the position shown in Fi l of the drawings, that is to say, the lire oor is ajar and the lower draft door and the damper are closed. Then when the alarm is actuated, the arm 14 simultaneously releases the link j2l and the hook 26, thereby closing the fire door 33 as previously explained, and allowing the thermostatic regulator to resume its work.
What is claimed, is: v

The combination with a heating apparatus having a fire door, of a support, a. projection pivoted to sald support, a link adapted for engagement with said projection, a hook coperating with said link, a connection between said hook and said door, a depending rod, al clamp mounted up'on said rod, a sprlng connecting said link and clamp, and means for rotating said projection to release the link.

a spring operated link adapted 'for engagement with said projection, a hook coperating with said link, a connection between said hook and said door, and means for operating the projection to release said link. 3. The combination with a heating apparatus having a fire door, of a support haring a rabbeted transverse partition, a shaft extending through said support and partition, a projection carried by the sha'lt and adjustable longitudinally thereof within the plane of the rabbeted portion of the partition, a spring operated link adapll-l for cngagement with said projection, a catch eooperating with said link, a connection between the catch and the door, and means for moving the projection for releasing said link.
4. The combination with a heating apparatus having a fire door aud au automatic regulator forthe lower l'ront drait and flue 1 damper, of a support having a pair of rotatable projection. means adapted to be con-v nected to one p= ejection for maintaining the lire door open, means adapted to be connected to the other projection for holding the regulator inactive, said two last means being independent of each other, and means for automatically disconnecting the projections from either or both of said two means.
5. The combination with a heating apparatus having a lire door and an automatic regulator for the lower front draft and line damper, of a support having a pair of rotatable oppositely disposed projections, independently operable means connecting said combustion-controllin defices with the projections, and means 'or automatically disconnecting either or b oth of the projections from said first7 mentioned means whereupon the lire door is closed and the'gegulator is restored to' workingorder.
