5 CHEMICAL rmn-nx'rmoursnme DEVICE.
To all whom it mag concern.-
Be-it known that I, QLU 'F. AALBUE, a citizen of the United States and residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of 'New- York, have inventedcertain new and useful Improvements in Chemical Fire- Exting'uishing Devices, of which the following. is a specificatiom'such as will enable those skilled in theart to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to what are known as chemical fire extinguishing devices or apparatus, and the object-thereof is to provide a device or apparatus of this class inwhich carbonic acid gas under high pressure is used as a chemical element for the purpose specified; a further object bcing'topr'ovide an improved container for the carbonic acid gas and improved means for-filling said container with the said gas and dlscharging said gas from the container .and the mingling-thereof witlrthe other element or elements employed.
The invention is fully disclosed in the 01- lowing specification, of which the accompanying drawi'n forms a part, in which the separate parts 0 =my improvement are designated'by suitable reference characters in each of the views, and in which Figure 1 is a sectional sideview showing the main part of 1 chemical fire extin ing apparatus made'according to my invention with the carbonicacid gas container in fulllines;
Fig. 2 a similar view'showing' the' carbonicacid gas container in section and with parts'of the device or apparatus n ad fien 'ent' osition 2 on an enof the device or apparatus connected with ushe'carbonic acid gas container and showing I said container empty; and,
Fi 4 a view similar to;Fig. 3 but showing, t e container filled and the parts 1n the position they; assume whensmd contalner 1S cure or o eni a In the practice. of my invention I provide a suitable tank or container 1%, the top of which is provided withi -a large central aper- 11 around which is a collar a provi ed with an exterior thread a and an'inwardly directed top flan or run a3.
Suspended from the top 0 i the flange or rim a is 'an openwork strainer tube -b .pre'fembly composed of wire mesh 'and provided ish- I rod is Specification 0,! Letters Patent. Batefited Mar. 27,1917; Application filed April 21', 181 6. sc -an 1a., 2,010. I
with atop flange throughwhich are passed screws b wle'reby said, strainer tube is secured to the flan the straineriube carbon c acid eh ofthe collar a, and lsadapted to receive the a plug d which is screwed thereinto and provided-with a: raised neck portion d having a closure cap 11 which is screwed there'- onto andfin which isplaced'a thin' cop or disk or washer 4 above which is prefera placed a packing disk 12" of any suitable ma terial', and the, neck (l of the plug d is: provldccl wlth a :entral vertical bore (1 and the a cup d and packing disk cl with similar bores (l which register therewith.
.In the bottom of. the plug d is a conical V p as container 0 which is made' n t'l1e' -for rn c a tube and. com osed of sheet metal capable of resisting a high degree of. pressure,'and the top of which is-closed'by chamber d in which is placed avertically movable valve e, and the bottom. wall .of
the plug :1 is provided'with radial pins'or similar devices 6 which project into the bot:

forms a necls: which is provided-with a*-' closure ca if having a skirt member proan interior thread which come I- vided wit sponds with the thread a, and said"cap'is provided with a Qcking gasket f and with outwardly- "dir' ect handle members f by which it may be manipulated, andsaidcap.
is also provided with alraisedtand threaded neckff' havinga threadedclosure.
