Be it known that l Gnoncn N. LEMMON, a citizen of the United States, residing Greensburg, in the county of Vfestmoreland and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Electric Switch, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a switch for controlling electric currents and. its object is to provide a simple and eii'ective means of securing contact between a solid metal surface and a metallic flexible brush opposed thereto.
The priority of Letters Patent issued to A. N. Burke i7: 1,099,421 is acknowledged, and all claims are made subject to the claims granted therein.
@n the attached drawing, Figure 1 shows a side view of a switch embodying my invention. Fig. 2 shows'a top view of the conducting members of the switch with the contact-making parts not quite in contact. Fig. 3 shows a top view of the conducting members fully in contact with the switch closed.
A switch embodying my invention is shown in Fig. 1 of the attached. drawing. The base, a, carries a movable support, 7). Insulators, c, c, c, are supported on these members and in turn support the conducting parts above. The movable member, (Z, carrise a contact-member, e, which has a contact surface, g, and interlocking parts, m, m, and which is pivotally attached to the movable member, (Z, by the joint, 07,. The essential feature of my invention is the pivotal action of the member, 6', which thereby produces forcible contact between the surface, 9, and the brush, it, and interlocks the parts, m, m, 70. The brush, it, and the surface, 9, may be interchanged with one another; also the member, 6, may be pivotally mounted on, f, and the members, Fe, h, be mounted on the member, (if, and such modifications do not change the essential feature of my invention.
I claim:
1. An electric switch having in combination a stationary insulated support, a rotative insulated support, a conducting member mounted on each of these supports, a flexible contact-making brush, mounted on one of these conducting members, and a contactmaking member pivotally mounted on the other conducting member and extending as a continuation of the conducting member upon which it is mounted, toward the other conducting member.
2. An electric switch having in combination a stationary insulating contact-supporting member, a rotative insulating contactsupporting member, and a contact member pivotally mounted on one of these supports and capable of limited motion about its pivot and of securing toggle-joint action in com: bination with a contact member on the other support.
3.
