My inrention relates to a supply ot' power for a distribution system, and more particularly to en :nrangenient of automatic sul stations adapted to he interposed between a distrilnition system and sources oi' power, and arranged to lieep the supply practically uninterrupted.
With certain systems of distribution it is Ury desirable that there shall he practically no interruption in Athe supplj,7 ot power. This is especially true when such apparatus as motor-driven lire pun'ips, electrically-ops crateri. raiiway signals, and the like, is supplied. from the system in question. To avoit this possi'hilit)v of a failure ot' power, it is soinetin'ies possible to provide connections :from a plurality of sources to the distribution system, switches being provided so that any el" those soarcesinay he connected .to the system. The combination of a distribution system, a plurality of sources of power, automatically operated switching devices interposed between said sources and said system, means, comprising a relay responsive to the voltage of said system, for operating said switches when the voltage is substantially different. from normal, and means responsive to the voltage of said system f or rendering said operating means ineffective when the voltage is substantially normal.

The combination of a distribution system, a plurality of sources of power, switching devices interposed between said system and said sources, electrical operating mechanisms for said switching devices arranged to -be energizedY from the associated source, relay switches responsive to the voltage of said systemv arranged to energize afn operating mechanism upon a failure ofi voltage on said system, switches in parallel with said relay switches and controlled by the movement of its controlling operating mechanisms, holding latches for said switching devices, low-voltage trip coils for Vsaid latches, means associated with' said switching devices responsive to a predetermined potential dilfereiiee on said system for rendering said operating mechanisms ineffective, and means for varying the'time for closure of each switching device. 1
