Each roof sheet 11, excepting the end roof sheets, is formed with an integral flange at each side and end. At the ridge end it is formed with an upturned and doWnturned U-flange 12 which is arranged to interlock with a similar flange on the corresponding sheet which lies at the other side of the ridge. By this construction the eaves cap can be interlocked with the roof sheets as above described and slid upward and 'inward toward the ridge of the car, and after it is in place the flap 18 is bent down to inclose the ridge ends of the seam flanges 1d, 15, as seen in ig. 4. The outer end portions of the ridge flanges 12 are cut away as shown at 19 (Fig.
6) to allow of play and to receive the flap 18,
and also to leave space for the securing bolts 20 (Fig. 5) which pass up through the ridge pole.
The ridge seam is finished by ridge cap sections (Figs. 9 to 11) each of which is formed with longitudinal upward U-bends 21 to receive the roof sheet flanges 12, with transverse upward wider U-bends 22 to receive the seam caps 16 and which intersect the bends 21 near one end of the latter, with downwardly inclined flange portions 23 which rest on the roof sheets, with upstanding flanges 2% at the ends of the parts 23 remote fromthe said bends 22, and with a perforation .25 to permit the passage of the said bolt 20. The flanges 23 which are formed with said upturned end flanges 2 are long enough to extend substantially up to the side of the next seam cap while the corresponding flanges at the other side of the bend 22 are only sufficiently long to lap a little under the next ridge cap sec-- tion. By this construction the flanges 2 are included with the seam cap within the U-bend 22 of the next ridge cap section, the said sections being thus successively lapped over and under each other, the short ends being overlapping and being underlapping. The said flanges 24 may, however, be omitted.

In a metal car roof, in combination: a car roof frame; roof sheets formed at their eaves ends with underturned hook flanges; seam caps uniting the edges of the said roof sheets; hook strips attached to said frame and engaging within said hook flanges for movably confining the eaves ends of the roof sheets; and means resting on the top of the car independently of the roof sheets and supporting from below the eaves ends of the seam caps.
4. In a metal car roof, in combination: a car roof frame; roof sheets which are horizontally movable within limits on said frame; seam caps movably uniting the edges of the said roof sheets; and seam clips resting on the top of the car independently of the roof sheets and supporting from below the eaves ends of the said seam caps.

In a metal car roof, in combination: a car roof frame; roof sheets which are horizontally movable within limits on said frame; seam caps movably uniting the edges of the said roof sheets: eam clips resting on the top of the car independently of the roof sheets and supporting from beiow the eaves ends of the said seam caps, and having arms which overlie and movably confine the roof sheets at the sides of the seam.
6. In a metal car roof, in combination: a car roof frame; roof sheets resting on said frame, formed with underturned hook flanges at their eaves ends; seam caps having the side edges of the roof sheets movably interlocked therewith; eaves hook strips having vertical flanges attached to the:
frame and formed with lower and upper flanges between which are inclosed the hook flanges of the roof sheets; a fascia attached to the frame over the said vertical flanges of the hook strips; eaves fiashings inclosing the upper part of the fascia and extending inward between the lower flanges of the hook strips and the'hook flanges of the roof sheets; and means resting on said flashing's;
extending under the eaves endsof the seam caps, and supporting the seam caps inde pendently of the roof sheets and adapted to hold down movably theroof sheets at the sides of the seam caps.
7, In a metal car roof in combination: a car roof frame; roof sheets resting on said frame, formed with upwardly and inwardly.
turned U-flanges at their sides, with upwardly and outwardly turned U-flanges at' the said vertical flanges of the hook strips;
eaves flashings inclosing the upper part of the fascia and extending inward between the lower flanges of the hook strips and the hook flanges of the roof sheets; and means resting on said flashings, extending under the eaves ends of the seam caps and supporting the seam caps independently of the roof sheets and adapted to hold down movably the roof sheets at the sides of the seam caps.

In a metal car roof, in combination: a car roof frame; roof sheets resting on said frame, formedwith upwardly and inwardly turned U-fianges at their sides, with up wardly and outwardly turn d U-fianges at their ridge ends and with unc erturned hook flanges at their eaves ends; seam caps having the side edges of the-roof sheets mova'bly interlocked therewith; eaves hook strips having vertical flanges attached to the frame and formed with lower and upper flanges between which are movably inclosed the hook flanges of the roof sheets; a fascia attached to the frame over the said vertical flanges of the hook strips; eaves flashings inclosing the upper part of the fascia and extending inward between the lower flanges of the hook strips and the hook flanges of.
the roof sheets; and seam clips-resting on said flashings, extending under the eaves ends of the seam caps, and supporting the seam caps independently of the roof sheets and adapted to hold down movahly the roof sheets at the sides of the seam caps.

In a metal car roof, in combination: a car roof frame; roof sheets resting on said frame, formed with upwardly and inwardly turned U-flanges at their sides, with up wardly and outwardly turned U-flanges at their ridge ends and with nnderturned hook flanges at their eaves ends; seam caps having the side edges of the roof sheets movably interlocked therewith; eaves hook strips having Vertical-flanges attached to the frame and formed with lower and upper flanges between which are movably inclosed the hook flanges of the roof sheets; afascia attached to the frame over the said Vertical arms adapted to hold down movably the roof sheets at the sides of the seam caps.
10. In a metal car roof, in combination: a car roof frame; roof sheets resting on said frame, formed with upwardly and inwardly turned U-flanges at their sides and with underturned hook flanges at their eaves ends; tubular seam caps having interior up--,
wardly extending flanges with Which the side flanges of the roof sheets are movably interlocked; eaves hook strips having vertical flanges attached to the frame Within the fascia and formed with lower and upper flanges between which are inclosed the hook low the seam cap of a car roof, consisting of flanges of the roof sheets; a fascia attached to the frame over the said Vertical flanges of the hook strips; eaves flashings inclosing the upper part of the fascia and extending inward between the lower flanges of the hook strips and. the hook flanges of the roof sheets; and means extending under the eaves ends of the seam caps, and 'shpporting the seam caps independently of the roof sheets and adapted to hold down Innvably the roof sheets at the sides of the seam caps.

A seam clip for supporting from bea vertical shank adapted to be attached to the side of a car, an inward extension at the upper part of said shank which extension is nearly tubular interiorly and a shoulder arranged between the vertical part of the shank and said extension for supporting the clip and seam cap onthe top of the car.
12. In an outside metal car roof a metal. roof-sheet having side flangingf and eavesend Hanging adapted to make freely floating connectionwith their respective retaining means, and having ridge-end flanging adapted to make sliding connection with an opposite roof-sheet, said side-flanging being inwardly rebent over and said eaves-end flanging rebent under the sheet-body, where-- by such flanging adapts'the sheet to engage freely along both its sides and eaves-end with retaining means supported on and spaced above the sub-structure of the carroof, substantially as specified,
