A further object of the invention is to provide an improved frame for tractors which will so support, the axle brackets and the counteri hal't as to prevent the greater part of the strain of the eountershatt and the wheels ,on the axle bracket being transmitted to the firebox or boiler.
\Vith the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the details of construction and in the arrangement and combination of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing the invention in detail refereneo will. be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters of refercnce denote correspomling parts in the several views and in which Figure l is a side elevation of a tractor having the improved frame associated there with; Fig. 2. a plan view ot' what is shown in Fig. l partly in section: Fig. 3,. a plan view of the rear portion of the Frame; Fig. 4, a horizontal section through the rear portion of the l'rame; Fig. 5, a section on the line 5--5 of Fig. 1; Fig. 1', a section on the line (i (i of Fig. 2; Fig. 7, a partial rear view of the frame, and Fig.-& a'perspective view of the draw bar employed in connection with the l'rame.

formed or an upper member 1'2 and a lower member 13 of channel iron. The forward end of the member 11% extends up 'ardlv as at H and is bolted to the member 12. The rear ends of the members 13 are bent inwardly to Form loops l5 and lb and the ends of said members are connected by a bar 17. Secured between the bars [7 and the ends of the members 123 is the h -ad 1th of a draw bar I!) said head and bar being substantially housed in the channels of the members 13. This bar It! extends through a cross beam ill which latter is also conne ted to the rear ends of the members 125 within the limits of the loops to and lb. The beam 2'.) is also connected to the members 13 by means of braces 21. h'ui'iported upon the rear ends of the members 13 and suitably secured to the latter is a platform 21!. Mounted upon the forward ends of the members 19 is a cross beam 23 and the extreme forward ends of these members 12 are connected by a brace :24. Suitably bolted to the members 12 and 123 of each section A and B is an axle bracket 25 having engaged thereon the clamp ends 26 of a binding rod 27 which latter extends over the top of the fire box 11, it being understood that the rod 27 has each end terminating in a. clamp torronnect-ion with one of the axle brackets. Each axle bracket 25 is strengthened by braces 28 and 29 Whicl connect saine with the beam and the rear Each axle bracket 25 is also connected to the re lated member 1.3 by means of a brace 30. The members 13 of the sections A and B are connected by means of a plurality of binding rods 31 which extend. beneath the tirebox 11,.said rods 31 in connection with the rod 27 serving to hold the frame in place upon the tractor firebox as will be obvious. The ends of the beams 20 and J3 and the axle brackets 25 are connected by bars'33. 'lhese bars can be dispensed with when using the tractor for lighter work such as threshing although they are desirable in plowing and other heavy work. The main purpose of these bars 33 is to serve as an additional safeguard in strengthening the structure as a whole.
\Vhat is claimed is 1. A tractor frame comprising side sections each of which includes upper and lower members. cross bars connecting the upper members and the lower members, an axle bracket connecting the upper and lower :1 head secured lmtwcun the first named bar and the inner ends of the lower members and 15 further having a stem substantially housed in the channels of the lower members, a cross bar connecting the. upper members of the secbinns, and means for securing the sec-- t uns to the firebox of a tractor.
In testimony whereof I affix my signatmn in the presence of two Witnesses.
