Be it known that I, AooLrH O. BECKER, a citizenof the United States, residing at Oakville, in the county of Litchfield and State of Connecticut, have i'nventeda new and. useful Improvement in Flash-Lights; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying.

This invention relates to an improvement in flash lights'of the portable type, and particularly to flash lights having round casings. To hold the. batteries in place and compensate for slight variations in length, it has been, customary to insert a spring in the bottom of the cap which is applied to the lower end of the case which spring bears upon the lower end of the battery.
The object of this invention is to employ a spring at this point which will serve not only to providefor varying lengths of batterms, but will become one of the terminals and be permanently connected with the case; and the invention consists in the construction hereinafter described and particularly recited in the claims. 1 V
