IMPROVEMENT IN HARROWS.

Specicatiou forming part of Letters Patent No. 119,397, dated September 26, 1871.

To all whom it may concern: i

Be it known that I, DELBERT A. PARKMAN, of Union City, in the county of Obion and vState of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in a Two-Horse Harrow, and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being-had to the accompanying drawing-and to the letters of reference marked thereon which form a part of this specification.

The nature of my invention consists in the construction and arrangement of a barrow, as will be hereinafter more fully set forth.

In order to enable others skilled in the art to which lmy invention appertains to make and use the same, I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawing, in which- Figure l is a plan view, and Fig. 2 a side view of my harrow.

A and B represent two parallel bars 0r beams, of suitable dimensions, hin ged together bymeans of hooks a a and staples b b. The hooks a co are attached to thev front side of the rear beam A, and the staples b b to the rear side of the front beam B, or viceversa, if so desired. The beams A B are provided with knife-shaped teeth G (l,

as shown in Fig. 2. From the center of the forward beam B projects the tongue D, braced by means of the side braces E E, said braces and tongue being inserted in the front side of the beam B. Gr represents a round log or bar, connected, by means of chains d d, with the rear beam A, said chains being of equal length, so that the log will be parallel with the beams of the harrow. This log is used for the purpose of pulverizing the earth, and when it is not desired to use the same it can readily be unhooked from the beam.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

In combination with the hinged parallel bars A B and knife-shaped teeth C C, the log G attached or connected to the bar A by means of the chains d (l, substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth.
