SWIVELED TELESCOPING WAGON-REACH.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY A. TOWNSQN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bingham, in the county of Sheridan and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in'Swiveled Telescoping Wagon-Reaches; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear,
and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to gear and to provide a simple, inexpensive and eflicient swiveled telescoping wagon 'ance and inconvenience.

illustrated the preferred embodiment of the invention, the reach comprises in its construction, front and rear tubular sections 1 and 2, the front section 1 telescoping into the rear section 2 and adapted to be moved inwardly and outwardly to vary the length of the reach. The front section 1 is provided at its front end with a head 3 designed to be constructed of malleable metal or other suitable material and having. a shank 4 which is secured by rivets or other suitable fastening means in the front end of v the front section 1 of the reach. The head 3 is provided with an opening 5 which is adapted to receive the king bolt of the front truck or portion of a vehicle.
The front and rear sections 1 and 2 may i be of any relative length and the rear section is provided at its front end with a sleeve or coupling 6 provided with an. exteriorly arranged collar, cast or otherwise formed on the sleeve or coupling 6 which is interiorly threaded to screw on the front end of the rear section 2 and also to receive a short end piece 8. The short end piece 8 which is screwed into the front end of the sleeve or coupling 6 is provided with alined perforations for the reception of a coupling pin 9 which is also adapted to be arranged in any one of a series of perforations 10 of the front reach section. The perforations 10 are arranged at intervalsand may be of any desired number to secure the requisite adjustment of the front and rear reach sections.
The sleeve or coupling 6 which is designed to be construe-ted of malleable metal or other suitable material is swiveled in a bearing composed, of upper and lower sections 11 of similar construction provided with longitudinal channel or bearing recesses 12 to receive the sleeve orv coupling 6 and having registering transverse grooves 13 which are engaged by the annular flange 7. The sections 11 of the bearing are provided at' apposite sides with laterally projecting attaching flanges 14 arranged in substantially flush relation with the upper face of the upper section and the lower face of the lower section and spaced apart to receive the front terminals of the rear hounds 16 to which they are secured by bolts or other suitable swivelbearing form hound plates for connecting the rear hounds 16 of the running gear. The swivel connection between the rear The sections of the hounds and the reach will permita' complete rotary movement of the rear truck of the running gear and the longitudinal adjustment of the sections of the reach do not interfere with the tracking of the front and rear wheel of the vehicle and when the reach is shortened it will not extend from the back of the vehicle. Also by means of the teleonthe front end of said rear section, a collar screw-threadedly mounted on the oppov site end of said sleeve and projecting beyond the same, said collar provided with an opening therein, said front section provided with a plurality of spaced openings slidably mounted through the collar into the rear section, a pin in the opening of the collar adapted to be inserted into the openings of i the front section for holding the same in any desired adjusted position, means on said sleeve fitting into the groove of said bearing holding the same against longitudinal movement, a head-having a shank secured in the front end of the front reach sections and means for securing the reach sections in their adjustment. 7
