My invention relates to iinprovementsin electric switches and has particular application in connection with the well known type of knife-blade switches.
The object of the invention is to assure a perfect electrical contact and the object of the invention is accomplished broadly by providing means for causing a spring engagement between the blade and the con- `tact'jaws or clips.
1n the following is described, in connection with the accompanying drawings, one forni of device embodying my invention, the features thereof being more particularly pointed ont hereinafter in the claims.

As illustrated 1 indicates a base of slate or other suitable insulating material to which contact blocks@ .and 3 are secured in Vany suitable manner. Line wire terminals 4 and 5 ai'e secured to blocks 2 and 3 respcctivelyin any suitable manner so as to assure good electrical contact.

Spring pieces 12, 12, are narrower ing an outside or independent pressure against the clips thus forcing the contact clips'tightly against the blade and assuring an absolutely perfect contact. llfhen closed lthe blade is between the clips tending to force them apart and the spring pieces 12, 12 are at either side of the clips tending to force them inward against the blade. the clips and the blade being thus held together under spring engagement. As shown, said spring pieces l2, 12 are vpreferably fixed at one end and in electrical contact with the blade 7, the other end heilig free, and further provided with a flattened portion adapted toY make electrical engagement with the fiattened face of the Contact clips; said attened port-ionis usually adjacent the free end and may be provided with a circular or other indentation pressed therein to secure rigidity of said flattened' portieri.
The invention may be applied Ito double as well as single throw switches and in fact finds use in any suitable type of Switch de vice wherein the principles ot' the invention may be applied.
I do not restrict myself either to the de tails of constriartion illustrated or to the general arrangement as described, further than the -scope of the appended claims deiua-nds. l
YI claim:
1. The conibination of a resilient contact having opposite contact faces. a switch blade sl-idingly engaging one of said faces when` said switch blade is in its closed position, and an arm connected at its one end directly to said switch blade and' having its other end free, the portion of said arm adjacent said free end slidiiigly engaging the other of said faces of the resilient contact, when said switch blade is in its closed position, said arm portion extending longitudinally ot' lsaid switch blade and having its circuit breakingvedge advanced relative to the cir cuit breaking edge of said switch blade.
