Upon unlocking stop 17, the tension of spring 14 causes the hub to be rotated at a high rate of speed until pin 16 again engages pin or catches up with gear 4. Thls highly increased rate of speed of hub 5 and conse quently shaft 7 causes the armature of the magneto to be rotated very fast, and produces. a hot spark for igniting the first charges of fuel introduced into the engine to effect starting thereof. While we have illustrated and described the preferredforin of construction for carrying our invention into effect, this is capable of variation and modification without dearting from the spirit of the invention.
.' Ve, therefore, do not wish to be limited to the precise details of construction set forth, but des1re.to avail ourselves of such varlat1ons and modifications as come within the scope of the appended claims.
Having described our invention what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A device of the kind described compris ing a driving element; a driven element mounted adjacent said driving element; a
springoperatively connecting said driving .and driven elements; a stop on said driven element; a catch movably mounted and adapted to be moved into the path of said stop; a weight shiftably mounted on said catch and adapted to be manually shifted to maintain the-latter in the path of said stop; and a. cam carried by said driving elementadapted to disengage said catch from said stop and shift said wei ht to 'maintain said-catch out of the path of said stop, substantially as described.
2, A. device of the hind described comprising a, t'lifivingxelement; a driven clement mounted adjacent said driving element; a spring operatively connecting said driving and driven elements; a stop on said driven element; a catch pivotally mounted and adapted to be moved-into the path of said stop; a weight shiftably mounted on said catch and adapted to be manually shifted to maintain the latter in the path of said stop; and a cam carried by said driving element adapted to rock said catch from engagement with said stop and shift said weight to maintain said catch out of the path of said stop, substantially as described.
3. A device of the kind described comprising a driving gear; a hub mounted adjacent said gear; a spring operatively connecting said gear with said hub; a stop on said hub; a catch pivotally mounted and adapted to be rocked into the path of said stop; a
,weight shiftably mounted on said catch and adapted to be manually shifted to maintain the latter in the path of said stop; and a cam carried by said gear adapted to disengage said catch from said stop and shift said weight to maintain said catch out of the path of said stop, substantially as described.
4. A device of the kind described con1prising a driving gear; a hub mounted adj accnt said gear; a spring operatively connecting said gear with said hub; a catch pivotally mounted and adapted to be rocked into the path of said stop; a weight pivotally mounted on said catch and adapted to be manually moved to a position in which said catch will be maintained in the path of said stop; and a cam carried by said gear adapted to disengage said catch from said stop and rock said weight to a position in which the same will maintain said catch out of the path of said stop, substantially as described.
