Description

UNITED STATES PATENT QFFICE.
IMPROVEMENT IN ALLOYS OF COPPER AND TIN.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 118,372, dated August 22, 1871.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ALEXANDRE ETIENNE LAVROFF, of St. Petersburg, Russia, a colonel in the artillery guard, have invented Improvements in Compounds or Alloys of Copper and Tin, of which the following is a description My invention consists in an alloy or bronze, into the composition of which tin, copper, and phosphorus enter in definite proportions, viz., phos-, phorus, 1 per cent.; tin, 19 per cent; copper, 80 per cent.
In compounding the alloy I first fuse the tin 19 per cent, or 94.5, and phosphorus l per cent, or 5.5.
This mass is added to the copper to form the
