TYPE-PLATE FOR PRINTING CALENDAR-PADS.
LISLSO.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 2, IQIG.
Application filed June 28, 1915. Serial No. 36,665.
.by declare the following to be a full, clear,
and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
My invention has for its object to provide a font of complementary 'type plates for y printing calendar pads; and, to this end, it
consists of the novel devices and the combinations of devices hereinafter described and defined in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, which illustrate the invention, like characters indicate like parts throughout the several views.
Referring to the drawings, Figure l is a view of the caption plate for the month of January; Fig. 2 is a view of the caption plate for the month of June; Fig. 3 is a view of one complete set of the column plates; Figs. l to 6, inclusive, show the column plates variously assembled with the caption plate for the month of January;
and Fig. 7 shows certain of the column plates assembled with the caption plate for the month of June.
In the font there are twelve caption plates l, only two of which are shown, to wit', for the months of January and June, and twelve sets of column plates 2, only one complete set being shown. There is one caption plate 1 for each month of the year and each caption plate has type faces indicating the respective month of the year and the seven days of the week. As shown, the type faces for the name of the month are located over the type faces for the days of the week and at the intermediate portion thereof, leaving a space at each end of the name of the month to receive plates, not shown, containing numeral type faces, indicating the year.
In Fig. 3 is illustrated one complete set of ten column plates 2. Three of these column plates 2 are relatively long and the remaining seven are relatively short. On each of the long column plates 2 are live vertically spaced numeral type faces, and on each of the short column plates 2 are four vertically spaced numeral type faces. The numeral type faces on the short column plates 2 are from l to 28, inclusive, and the numeral type faces, on any particular short short column plate 2, indicate the days of a month falling on the same week day, and the type faces, onV the different column plates, indicate the days of a month that fall on different week days. The long column plates 3 are identical with the first three short column plates 2, except that each thereof has at its bottom an additional numeral type face indicating an additional day of the month falling on the same week day. These additional numeral type faces indicate the 29th, 30th, and 31st days of the month, which do not appear on the short column plates 2.
Fig. 4 shows the three long column plates 2 and certain of the short column plates 2, assembled with the caption plate l, illustrated in Fig.l l, to represent the month of January (which has 3l days) when the first day of the month falls on Sunday.
Figs. 5 and 6 illustrate the same caption plate and column plates, shown in Fig. 4, re-assembled to represent the month of January, when the first day of the month falls on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.
Fig. 7 shows two long column plates 2 and five short column plates 2, assembled with the caption plate 1, illustrated in Fig. 2, to represent the month of June (which has 30 days) when the first day of the month falls on Tuesday.
When the month of February has only twenty-eight days, the entire group of short column plates 2 would be used in representing the days of the month.
From the foregoing description, it is evident that it requires seven of the column plates 2, out .of each set of ten, to represent the days of a given month. It will, therefore, be seen that the three remaining column plates 2 may be used for different months, making it unnecessary to have a complete set of ten column plates 2 for each of the twelve caption plates 1. It is also, evident that by the use of the above described font, type faces for printing calendar pads may be very quickly set up at small expense.
What I claim is 1. A font of complementary type plates,
comprising caption plates, and individual Column Plates adapted to be variously as."
sembled, said caption plates having type faces indicating the days of the Week, and said column plates having numeral type faces indicating all of the days of the month, the integral type faces on any particular column plate indicating all of the days of the month falling on the same Week day, and the type faces on the different column plates indicating days of the month that fall on different Week days.
2. Affont of complementary type plates, comprising caption plates, and individual column plates adapted to be variously assembled, said caption plates having type faces indicating the months of the year and the days of the Week, and said column plates havingk numeral type faces indicating all of the days of the month, the integral type faces on any particular column plate indieatingY all of the days of the month falling on the same Week day,l and the type faces on the different column plates indicating days of the month that fall on different Week days.
3. A font of complementary type plates for printing calendar pads, comprising twelve individual caption plates, and a plurality of sets of ten individual column plates, each of said caption plates having integral type faces indicating one of the months of'a year and all of the days of a Gopies of this patent may be obtained for ve cents each, by addressing the week, and said column plates having numeral type faces indicating all of the days of the month, and the integral type faces of any particular column plate indicating all of the days of the month falling on the same Week day, and the type faces on the different column plates'indicating days of the month that fall on different week days.
4f. A font of complementary type plates for printing calendar pads, comprising twelve individualcaption plates, and a plurality of sets of ten individual column plates, each of said caption plates having integral type faces indicating one of the months of a year and all of the days of a Week, and said column plates having numeral type faces indicating all of the days of the month, and the integral type faces of l any particular column plateI indicatingall of the days of the month falling on the same Week day, and the type faces on the different column plates indicating days of the month that fall on different Week days. certain of said column plates having four integral type faces and others having tive integral type faces.
In 'testimony whereof I aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
