GEORGES MASSIP, 0F LEVALLOIS, FRANCE.
OIL AND STEAM SEPARATOB.
Application filed January 2, 1913.
T 0 all whom it may concern Be it known that I, Gnonens Massrr, a citizen of the French Republic, and resident of Lavallois, France, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oil and Steam Separators, of which the following is a specification.
It is the object of the present invention to construct an oil and steam separator in which the steam is treated in a peculiar manner by deflection by partitions so that the separating action of the partitions, is the same for all the sections of the fluid passage and that the entrance of the fluid is effected tangentially with respect to the partitions. If for instance the flow of a particular fluid is to be considered during its passage between two of the concentrically bent partitions, the transversal deflection to which each particle of said fluid is subjected will increase with the increase in the deflecting radius of the partitions. On the other hand it is necessary that the direction of flow of the fluid at its point of entrance is as nearly tangential to the partitions as possible, in order to avoid the particles entering between the partition walls in an opposite sense to that imparted to them by the centrifugal force.
In the accompanying drawing, Figures 1 and 2 illustrate a preferred form of separator in longitudinal and cross section.
The curved partitions 1 are parallelly and vertically disposed within a casing 3 be tween the inlet and outlet openings 9 and 6 thereof.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 2, 1916.
Serial No. 739,833.
The partitions are provided with grooves or channels 4: into the bottom parts of which the drops of liquid carried along are guided, whereafter they are discharged in the lower part of the apparatus at 5, and leave through the opening 6.
The partitions 1 are formed so as to present themselves at the entrance of the fluid exactly tangentially as shown at 7 and 8, parallel to the axis of the apparatus in such a manner that the particles enter the nests or bunches and roll along said walls parallel to the same.
I claim:
An apparatus of the character described comprising a casing having inlet and outlet openings in opposite sides thereof for the fluid in combination with a series of parallel vertically disposed curved partitions arranged within the casing between the inlet and outlet openings, the partitions being so placed relatively to the inlet opening that GEORGES MASSIP.
