To all tU/LOWZ- it may concern Be it known that 1, JAMES F. Gunny, a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Quebec, in the Province of Quebec and Dominion of Canada, have invented new and useful Improvements in Games, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a game board de signed particularly for use in playing any and all games which are possible on the ordinary bowling alley.

The improved game is constructed with a view to providing a portable apparatus which may be readily used upon a table or other support and in which the players may have the full effect of the bowling game without the usual exertion required in such operation.

The invention in the preferred form of details, will be described in the following specification, reference being had particularly to the accompanying drawings, in which;

Referring particularly to the accompanying drawings the improved game board includes sides 1 and a bottom or base 2. The sides being of minimum height centrally of their lengths as at 8, from which they are of increased height toward the operating end as at 4, and also of increased height thereof to a less extent toward the opposite or rear end as at 5. The bottom 2 presents an incline 6 which extends between the sides and of a length from the forward end thereof to a point approximating the central portion 3 thereof. This portion 6 of the bottom is straight and meets the bottom or lower section 7 of the bottom, which latter is practically coextensive with the reduced height free of the sides. Beyond the bottom section 7 the bottom proper inclines upwardly as at 8 for a short distance toward the rear, the bottom beyond the rear inclination 8 being formed to present a lateral channel 9 which inclines slightly to one side and communicates with an opening 10 formed in the said side. On the inclined portion 6 which may be termed the runway, there is centrally provided a slightly raised portion constituting the alley proper 11., the sides of the inclined portion 6 beyond the alley proper constituting the usual gutters 12. On the lowest portion 7 of the bottom, there is provided a raised portion 13 coextensive in width with the width of the alley proper and of somewhat less length than that of the bottom section 7. On this portion 13 there is arranged the usual spots lt for pins, the said spots being arranged in regular order.

Beyond that side formed by the opening 10, there is provided an extension 15 in which there is formed a channel or groove 16 which inclines downwardly toward the front or operating end of the structure providing for the return of the operators balls or marbles as will presently appear. The extension 15 adjacent the hole 10 is elevated or increased in height as at 17 to prevent the balls overrunning the channel. The section 6 of the bottom is extended beyond the extreme forward end of the sides to constitute a surface on which the operator may rest his linger in discharging the ball or marble, a line being drawn across this surface constituting the usual foul line.

In the ordinary game of tenpins which will be described in connection with the game apparatus, the pins are mounted upon the portion 13 in the usual manner, after which the operator by rolling a ball or marble down the alley proper 11 causes the said ball or marble to contact with and knock down the pins, following which the ball or alley from the impetus gained will pass into the channel 9 and be deflected into the return groove 16 to be returned to the operator.

In playing the game with the apparatus described, it is contended that the game board shall be of a length to extend across a table of ordinary size and the player being seated on one side of the table will operate therefrom while his opponent or another seated on the opposite side of the table will. act as a pin setter. After the player has played the usual ten frames the game board may be turned end for end and the game proceeded with by changing players.

The game board may be constructed of any desired size and of any appropriate material, it being obvious that from the structure any game capable of being played upon the usual tenpin alley may be played with the improved gameboard, the playing element being balls or marbles or the like.

What is claimed is An improved game board comprising in presence of two witnesses.
