THOMAS r. .i. LENNON; or BOXBURY, MASSACHUSETTS.
MUSIC-LEAF TURNER.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, THOMAS P. J- LEN- NON, a citizen of" the United States, residing 'at Rcxbury, in the county of Sufl'olk,
State of Massachusetts, have invented cer-" tain new and useful Improvements in Music-Leaf, Turners; and I do hereby cleclare the followingto be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which:
itappertains to make and use thesame. V
This invention relates to music leaf turners.
The object of the invention is to provide a music leaf turner embodying an adjustg I .anism is positioned so that the axis of rotation of the disk 25 is coincident with the able standard having a depending arm upon whichlatter isrotatably inounteda turning disln This disk is provided with a radial slot and depending page clip. A rotatable shaft is also provided having a lateral arm the free end of whichis engaged in the radial slot whereby rotation of the shaft will effect rotation of the turning disk.
In the drawings chosen to illustrate the invention, the scope whereof is pointed out in the claims 7 i Figure 1 is a view in elevation of a music leafturner constructed in accordance with" the invention; Fig.2, a top view of same;
Fig. 3, a View similar toFig. 2 showingftlie leaf of the music turned; Fig. 4, a perspecfive vieii of the rotating disk, and Fig. 5, a perspective-view looking at a fragment of the bottom of the turning mechanism.
Referring to the drawings 10 indicates a music standmuponwhich is supported. a music folio 11 including a loose'leaf 12.
The stand 10 may be of any desired con-- The upper end of the shaftl5 terminates in a lateral arm '16 and the free'end of this arm is bent upwardly to form a toe 17. The lower end of the shaft 15 is bent laterally as at 18 and then upwardly as at 19, the upwardly extending portion 19 passing through an. arcuate slot 20 in'the-Ibase 13 arranged concentric with respect to the shaft 15. lat-shaped member 18' which supports the Specification of Letters Patent.
Under the base 13 is secured the byythe shaft 15 may be readily oscillated by the musician while playing. Also mounted in theframe 14: is a vertical rod 22 also formed of adjustable sections held in de- Patented Mar. 7, 1916. Application filed July 3, 1915. Serial No. 37,846. i
arm' 18 of the shaft 15. The upper cnd of the portion l9-carries a foot pedal 21 wheresired position by the thumbjscrew 2:2 and I having a laterally directed terminal 23 which supports a depending arm 2i. Rotatably mounted on the arm 24:is a disk 25 provided with a radial recess 26in Which is engaged the toe 17. This dish 25 carries a clip 27' adjacent its, periphery and this clip is adapted to be secured to theleaf 12.
In the use of the device the turning mech-i pivot of theleaf 12. The clip '27 is then the footiagainst the pedal 21 and by pushing forward the oscillation ofthe shaft 15 will effect the desired turning of the leaf 12, If it is desired to return the leaf 12 to its original position the toe of the operators foot is "placed'behind the pedal 21 and bya pull of the foot the shaft 15 in the opposite direction. I lVhat is claimed is will oscillate is caused. This oscillation ofthe shaft 15 will be transmitted through the toe '17 to the disk 25 and the rotation of the latter A musicleafturning device comprising 7 a base, a frame rising from thebase, a vertical shaft rotatably mounted in the frame and extending throughthe base, the lower end of said shaft being directed laterally and then upwardly through an arcuate slot in'the base, a pedal on theupper end of the upwardly directed portion of the lower end of the shaft, a vertical rod mounted in the frame, a lateral arm on the upper end of saidrod, a disk rotatably supported by said rod and having a radial recess therein, a
lateral arm on the upper endof the shaft provided with a 'toeengaged in said recess, and a leaf engaging clip carried by the disk.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signature, in'the presence of two witnesses.
