MIXING APPARATUS.
iaainaal Application filed March 23, 1914.-. Serial No. 826,581.
To all whom t may concern:
' Be it known that I, AnoLri-I KEPPELER, a citizen of the United States, residing at No. 323 South Montana street, Butte, in the county of Silverbow and State of Montana, have invented certain new and useful 1mprovements in'MiXing Apparatus, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in liquid agitatois, such as egg-beaters and drink-mixers, and its object is to provide an efficient agitator of simple construction which can be readily taken apart for 'clean-l ing. i
This object is attained by the construetion illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in whichl Figure 1 is a side elevation of the device;
Fig. 2 is a vertical section thereof, and Fig.
3 is a horizontal section on the line 3 3 of Fig.v1. Y
The agitator comprises a rotary beater 4L connected to an electric motor 5, and a cage 6 inclosing the'rotary beater.
The cage 6 is formed of wires 7 secured at their lower ends to the edge of a disk 8. The upper ends of the wires are secured to an outstanding flange 9 of a split ring 10v by passing the same through apertures in the flange. The intermediate portions of the wires are bent out to give the cage a substantially pear-shaped contour. The bottom of the motor casing is provided with an Specication ofLetters Patent. Patented Eels.y S, i916.
nected at their lower ends to a disk 18, the i underside of which has a pivot 19 stepped in a bearing aperture 2O in the upper face of the disk 8. rThe wires 17 are( bent to conform to the contour of the cage 6,v and their upper ends are secured to a small disk 21 at the lower end of a stem 22. The intermediate portions of the wires 17 pass through apertures in a ring 23 whereby theyare held in proper relation. Theupper end of the stem 22 is secured by a` set screw 24; Vin a socket 25 in the lower end ofl the motor shaft 26.
1n use, the agitator is immersedV in a ves# sel containing the liquid or othermaterial to be acted upon and the motor is started, which will vcause the beater 1- to rotate. The
cage surrounding the beater prevents the, liquid in which the agitator operates from rotating in a body, and at the same time acts as a guard for preventing the beater from hitting against the walls of the vessel. By removing thescrews 14:, the cage may be readily swung open and'removed from the l beaten v v I claim: Y An agitator comprising a tubular support having an outstandingange at its eX- tremity; a ring-clamped around. said support behind the flange, an open cage carried by the ring and having a base portion formed ofv lsections which are hinged together, a shaft passing through the tubular support, a beater carriedby the shaft, said beater being located in the cage, and a bear shaft. Y In testimony whereof 1 aflix my signature in presence of two witnesses.l
ing on one of the aforesaid base sections of the cage, said bearing supporting the beater ADOLPH Knrrnnnn. i,
