MAX GUND'EIACH, 0F GEHLBERG, GERMANY.
ANTICATHODE FOR` RNTGEN-RAY TUBES.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I,V MAX GUNDELAQH, a subject of the German Emperor, residing at Gehlberg, Duchy of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha,
Germany, have invented certain new an useful Improvements in Anticathodes for Rntgen-Ray` Tubes, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in anticathodes for Rntgen-ray tubes and is due to the discovery nium, when employed as the anticathode in a Rntgen-ray tube, radiates rays which possess a far greater penetrating and radio-4 scopic power ticathodes made of the metals hitherto in use.
The present invention resides in the utilization of the above-mentioned, recently discoveredl-peculiarity of the metallic uranium.
An important advantage arising from the use of metallic uranium is that it pos# sesses a melting point close to that of tungsten, and, when in pure state, it has a melting point even higher than that of tungsten, so that antieathodes constructed, according to this invention, partly or entirely, of metallicv uranium are, so vfar as their fusibility is concerned, at least equal to anticathodes Specification of Letters Patent.

of tungsten, penetrating power of their rays is concerned, far superior to anticathodes' constructed of the metals hitherto in use. In consequencel of their great penetrating power Rntgen-ray tubes having anticathodes of uranium are especially adapted for the radioscopie treatment of carcinomata, lues and the like.
In the annexed drawing, which' is a view in perspective of a Rntgen-ray tube lembodying my invention, A represents the tube proper and B the anticathode made wholly part of metallic uranium.
What I claim is 1. In a Rntgen-ray tube, an anticathode consisting partly of metallic uranium, substantially as set forth.
2. In a Rntgen-ray tube, an anticathode consisting entirely of metallic uranium, substantially as set forth and for the purpose specified. l
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my handv in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
' l MAX GUNDELACH.
