To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WINFRED MUDGE BROOKS, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of East Orange, in the State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Self-Locking Car-Seals, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to metallic seals adapted to be applied and sealed without tools and to prevent tampering therewith after sealing without detection and to certain novel improvements therein as hereinafter more particularly described and claimed.
One sheet of drawings accompanies this specification as part thereof, in which like reference characters denote like parts throughout.
Figure 1 is a face view of the seal before fastening; Fig. 2 is a face view of the same, sealed; Fig. 3 shows a seal after it has been fastened and tampered with, indicating the breaks; Fig. 4 is a face view of a modified form unsealed; Fig. 5 is an end view of the seal after sealing and Fig. 6 is an end view of the modified form shown in Fig. 4 after sealing.
Referring to the drawings, a represents the shackle, b a loop catch bent from one end of the shackle in a plane perpendicular thereto and having a relatively small mouth cl adjacent to the bend from the shackle, 0 represents the other end of the shackle fiattened and embossed, '0 represents transverse nicks cut into the face of the shackle and on the inner side of the bend of the loop I) from the shackle, b shows a modified form of the loop I) flattened and embossed and o and 0 indicate breaks at transverse nicks caused by attempting to bend away from the nicks;
