FLY-PAPER GUARD.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ARTHUR Gr. HARRIS, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Palisades, in the county of Mesa and State of Colorado, have invented new and useful Improvements in Fly-Paper Guards, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to improvements in protectors or guards and has particular application to a device of this character for holding fly paper or substances of a like nature so that such substance may be held against accidental movement and held in a substantially closed condition so that contact with the paper is avoided.

In carrying out my present invention, it is my purpose to provide a protector or guard for fly paper and the like which shall act to keep the paper or other substance in its initial position and which shall substantially inclose the paper to prevent contact with the same and at the same time permit the ingress of flies and similar insects to the paper so as to trap or exterminate such insects.

Furthermore, I aim to provide a device of the above stated class which shall include a tray designed to receive a sheet of fly paper or the like, and a guard detachably associated with the tray and capable of being securely fastened thereto so as to present a neat compact and eflicient protector.

With the aboveand other objects in view, the invention consists in the construction, combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter set forth in and falling within the scope of the appended claim. Referring to the accompanying drawing in detail, the improved protector includes a tray 1 constructed preferably of metal although any other suitable material may be utilized and of a size suflicient to receive a sheet of fly paper Or other material of a like nature. Detachably associated with the tray 1 is a guard 6 composed, in this instance, of a frame consisting of longitudinal metallic side bars 7 and transverse metallic end bars 8, and a foraminous body 9 composed preferably of coarse wire screening and secured tothe side and end bars of the frame in such a way that the main body of the screen will be held spaced above said sidebars 7 and the arrangement will also be such that the guard will be closed on all sides, thereby preventing any object coming in contact with the fly-paper. This guard 6, after the fly paper has been deposited on the tray 1, is adapted to be slid longitudinally ofv the said tray and within the grooves 3 thereof so as to cover the fly paper and render the same proof against contact with foreign objects, the foraminousbody of the protector being of a construction to permit the ingress of flies and other insects to the paper.

The open end of the tray 1, in this embodiment of the invention, is stamped to provide a spring catch 10 designed to engage the respective end bar 8 to prevent displacement of the parts when the latter have been assembled in protector formation.

While I have shown and described one embodiment of my invention by way of illustration, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to all of the details or construction hereinbefore set forth, as variation and modification may be made within the scope of the claim. without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any advantages of the invention.
