Be it known that we, OTTO W. STUCH and RICHARD E. STURGIS, citizens of the United States, residing ,at Allegan, in the county of Allegan and State of Michigan, have invented new and useful Improvements in Package-Ties, of which the following is a specification. l

The invention relates to a package tie for use in postal or mail service.

The primary obj ect of the invention is the provision of a tie wherein mail matter such as letters, packages, newspapers, or the like, can be conveniently and quickly bundled 'and fastened intact for the ready and safe ,transportation thereof from one point to,

another without the possibility of thecontents or articles ofthe package becoming separated or lost-during transit.

Another obj ect of the nvention 1s the provision of a package tie wherein a single formed at one end of an L-shaped plate 8, the same being made from a single blank of strand of cord can be used for an indefinite period of time, thereby enabling considerable` saying in material, the tie for thecord the same or undue wear thereon.

A further Object of the invention is the provision of a tie of this character wherein the same is madefrom a single blank of relatively stifl? material so that the cord can be fastened about a package for the tying thereof. r v

A still further Object of the invention is the provision of a tie whereina package can be tied in the least 'possible time, and which will be practically indestructible, and

Beferring to the drawing in detail, A designates a plurality of envelops which are of the ordinary well-known form and are adapted to contain letters to be transported from one point to another, the said envelops bein stacked and have applied thereto a paclge tie presently described.

The package tie conprises a cord 5,which may be of the required length, and is 'freely flexible for the training of the same about the stacked envelops A for holding them in package form. One end of the cord 5 is formed with a knot 6, and this knotted end is loosely trained or pas'sed through a hole 7 sheet naterial, preferably metal, the hole be- .ing formed in the longer limb of the plate, being of novel form to prevent cutting of 'while cut and bent from the shorter limb of the said plate are spaced parallelhooks and a lient latch tongue 11 located between the said hooks 10 so that on the engagement of the cord in the hooks the.
