IMPROVEMENT IN SURFACE-GAGES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No.115,438, dated May 30,1871; antedated May 26, 1871.
I, WILLIAM FLOORNELL, of Adrian, in the county of Lenawee and State of Michigan, have invented a new and useful Improvement in the following is a such a T- headed arbor, and embodies my in- L vention. Fig. 21s a tranverse view of the same. Fig. 3 is a modified form of the same.
I H, Figs. 1 and 2, represents my present improved T-headed arbor; and my improvement consistsin the tapering shoulder i on the hollow head H, the slot or opening n through said shoulder and into the hollow of said head, and
the flaring recess 1 in the end of the hollow clasp E, in virtue of which the end of clasp E will, when the nut D is turned, ride upon the conical shoulder t, thereby pressing it together and causing it to clasp the pointer U and hold it in any desired position. The slot or opening nis designed to be sawn from the opening in the cylindrical head out at the base of conical shoulder i; or I have designed'running it out parallel, as shown at Fig. 3.
